Chart of Charles Dickens, born 200 years ago

Charles Dickens was born 200 years ago this year. That is a good enough reason to celebrate with a post on Art&Astrology!:). I have written about Charles Dickens before, referring to his talent, his relationships with women and to the reason why we love his stories, even today, even if his pages don't fit in a tweet.

Here is something more about his chart on my sites:

1. We like the happy ends in the stories of Charles Dickens. The positive thinking of the author is reflected by Moon in Sagittarius (looking at the bright side of life) and the importance of the elevated Jupiter. Jupiter is the astrological symbol of being positive:

2. Charles Dickens had Moon and Neptune square Venus in Pisces and a Mars-Uranus affliction. That is enough for complicated relationships with the opposite sex…Read about Charles and the women in his life on Astropost:

3. I mentioned him on Art&Astrology iin 2009:

Charles Dickens had Moon and Neptune square Venus in Pisces. All three had a prominent position on the angles. He had the complete pattern of professional artistic talent in his natal chart.

Astropost: Venus-Saturn and Stepford Wives

In Astropost: Venus-Saturn and Stepford Wives something about the book written by Ira Levin and the Venus-Saturn symbolism of the perfect woman.

Chart and talent of Placido Domingo

Placido Domingo is a Spanish tenor and director with a very typical voice. Performers in the arts need artistic talents just as the creators of art do. In this case, there is a different astrological pattern than usual. Usually Moon, Venus and Neptune are connected with Midheaven and each other, supported by the signs that they rule (Cancer, Libra, Taurus and Pisces). In the chart of Placido Domingo we see:

a. a prominent Neptune (Neptune is 'calling', no mayor aspect in orb 5 degrees or in sign; and square Sun/Moon. It means that he was motivated for the arts, very much, at any kind of level, somehow, anyhow)

b. the moon stands right in the middle of Venus and Neptune. In other words: Venus/Neptune is conjunct the Moon.

c. There are minor aspects between Moon and Venus and Neptune. They are connected by septiles (1/7th of the circle). Moon/Venus is in aspect with Ascendant and Midheaven.
The septile is considered to mirror the energy that inspires us and others.

His chart doesn't immediately show the singer, unless you use this:

Mercury (communications, voice and pen) ruler of the Midheaven is in the 5th house of plays, games and shows, exactly square ruler 5 (plays) = Saturn (business).

Then you see the business of singing for entertainment.

But what must I do with that Mars on the IC? It may be an AA rated chart but I wonder ... Well, the story of his HOB is on Astrodienst: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Domingo,_Plácido

Michael Hutchence's artistic pattern

In Astropost: Midpoint combinations: 3 in 1 the chart of the final days of Michael Hutchence, singer of INXS has been used as an example. Important for his career: Mercury. Mercury has a special position in his natal chart. There are no trines, sextiles, squares, conjunctions or oppositions in sign or orb 5 degrees with Mercury. Mercury sits on the Ascendant.

That is a double prominence for Mercury, the planet of the birds, the writers, the singers and the messengers. Here is the chart with transits and progressions for the day of his death. The pattern of artistic talent is in Venus septile the elevated Moon, semi square Neptune and half sesquisquare (67.5d) Midheaven.

Onslow (Geoffrey Hughes) died

Geoffrey Hughes (Onslow in 'Keeping up appearances') died last Friday. The actor's chart, transits and progressions are here.

ARTIST
The natal chart has a 'calling' Mercury (Mercury has no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees). That means that communicating, somehow, anyhow was very important to him. As Mercury happens to be rising before the Sun, the voice (means for communication) is important. With Venus square Neptune and the Moon in Taurus we can see part of the astrological pattern of artist talents*). There are three inconjunctions with Venus in the natal chart (coming from Mars, Uranus and Pluto). Quincunxes (and especially three of them) often refer to illnesses.

DEATH
Progressed Mercury was square Pluto when he found out (on October 4, 2010) that there was a (prostate) cancer relapse.
At the time of his death we see transit Saturn sextile natal Jupiter. Also transit Pluto was inconjunct natal Mars (in the natal chart there is a tight sextile between Mars and Pluto; the resonation intensifies the nature of the aspects). Transit Pluto is inconjunct his natal Pluto. Progressed Mars is opposition natal Venus (natal chart: inconjunct) and semi sextile Node (natal chart: sextile).
The combination of Venus, Mars, Node and Pluto might refer to a gender related problem. The inconjunctions (and semi sextile) refer to illnesses (and losses). A sextile (IMO) mirrors the easy way out (he died peacefully in his sleep). May he rest in peace!

*) The astrological pattern of artistic talents consists of aspects between Moon, Venus and Neptune, placements in the related signs Cancer, Taurus, Libra and Pisces and a connection with Midheaven (for the professional). See the examples on this blog.
