Fun: that is part of the name of Louis de Funès, an actor who gave me a lot of pleasure when I was young, especially when he acted as a hot tempered police inspector. Here is his chart:

The Moon has a key role in the pattern of artistic talent. The Moon is sextile Venus, square Midheaven and 112.5 degrees Neptune in Cancer (ruled by Moon and rising before the Sun). An aspect of 112.5 degree is a square + half semi square.

Harrison Ford is the actor who impersonates Indiana Jones, the adventurer. Harrison Ford was born July 13, 1942, 11h41 a.m. CWT in Chicago Heights with this chart:

Highlights:

• Mercury (using the voice: speaking,writing) is calling! (no major aspects in 5d orb or sign) and that means that he communicates at any possible level (and sometimes not at all:) and 
• Mercury square Zero Aries (for being known) AND 
• Mercury conjunct MC (for professional communications)
• the Moon (keeping the memories alive or ... imitation, reflection) is ruler of the Cancer MC (history, pretending, feeding, educating) and

Now it seems that Venus is not related to Moon or Neptune or MC. But there is a quindecile (=strong focus) of Venus with IC and Midheaven is in hard aspect with Moon/Venus. It is the professional axis (IC-MC) that unites Moon, Venus and Neptune like this:

And why movies? Neptune in angular placement close to the Ascendant is an important indication. It means impersonating or disguise or... arts and movies (the world of fantasies) is important.

Notice that Mars is conjunct the midpoint Ascendant/MC and Jupiter/Neptune (semi square MC). Jupiter/Neptune, again, is pointing at fans and followers, succesful 'fake' or 'make belief' etc. and very fortunate for an actor. I think that Jupiter/Neptune is the combination of the believing audience. This combination pops up in the charts of those who are on stage, before a public that 'believes' in them. Susanne Pleshette's chart

In 2008 I wrote about Susanne Pleshette on Astropost.blogspot.com and I like to transfer this post to here now, with a chart drawing included.

Suzanne Pleshette died, age 70, early in the evening of the 19th of January of 2008, two weeks before her 71st birthday.

 She was born 31st January 1937 at 22h24 (Astrotheme.fr). Since August 2006 it was known that she was being treated for lung cancer (that was with P Moon square Pluto, just before the progressed New Moon and a few months after Sun semi sextile Saturn). 18 Months earlier the progressed Sun inconjunct Neptune announced a vulnerable health. Transit Pluto squared the Progressed MC last year. Progressed Mars inconjunct Uranus and transit Chiron trine Ascendant accompanied her final days. In the progressed chart Saturn is less than 1 degree from her IC. There will probably even more to discover but let's talk about her life and achievements.

She was a beautiful actrice. There were a number of indications for that:

• Notice the MC in Cancer ruled by Moon in Libra
• Moon in Libra on the Ascendant (attraction)
• Ascendant ruled by Venus in Pisces
• Venus in 6 conjunct Aries Point (known for beauty)
• Neptune is final dispositor of the MC (arts)

Perez Hilton recently interviewed Barry Humphries, better know as Dame Edna, who announced to sort of retire a bit after the shows of this summer. And Mars is opposition Neptune, just like in Barry Humphries' chart. So time to have a look how the chart shows that he is in show bizz (he is a comedian, artist, author and character actor). Here is the chart and what do we get? I’ll show you where the talent, motivation, vocation and ambition is.

TALENT

First there is the usual pattern of artistic talent: Moon sextile Venus and trine Midheaven; Venus inconjunct Neptune, Moon 157.5 (sesquisquare + half semi square) Neptune. These aspects connect to construct the pattern of artistic professional talent. Moon, Venus, Neptune (and Midheaven) aren’t in the signs ruled by them (Cancer, Taurus, Libra and Pisces). Sun/Moon is in artistic Pisces, conjunct Mercury and Pallas in Pisces. And maybe I should include the minor aspects of Midheaven with Venus (68.7 a wider semi sesquisquare) and Neptune (binovile) to complete the picture of an artistic career.

MOTIVATION

That means that he is being motivated to be a messenger (communicating, writing, talking). Mercury is in Pisces and that makes it easy to tell tales.

VENUS CALLING!

Fun, that is Venus. I am happy to see that  Venus in his chart doesn’t make major aspects in sign or within an orb of 5 degrees. That is what I name a ‘calling’ Venus. People with a calling Venus have a sort of a vocation for what is beautiful, charming, diplomatic, nice or …fun! So now we have the chart of an ambitious person with artistic talent who wants to entertain at any possible level, somehow, anyhow! 

DAME EDNA and SEDNA?

Barry is a comedian and Dame Edna is part of the comedy. Aquarius is frequent in the charts of comedians and Barry is an Aquarian. Uranus biquintile Midheaven is reflecting the creative ‘shock’ for the public. Purple hair IS a shock!:) Dressing up like a lady is always shocking or fun (depending on who watches it). Uranus is the recipe for controversy. But I also like to point at Sedna biquintile Neptune ruler Ascendant and the artist name resembling Sedna: Edna. (Mercury is in Pisces now that I write this blog post and conjunct my Node, sorry, but than you start seeing what rhymes!:)

VITALITY

Barry Humphries is still working at age 78 and that is rather special. The Aquarian Sun in aspect with Jupiter and Uranus (and Jupiter in aspect with Uranus) there is some understanding why: Humphries’ chart has some of the positions of those who reach a more than average age (see Astromarkt: age and astrology). He didn’t do much for it. I read that he did what he had to do as a Mars (in the 1^st house) opposition Neptune  (in the 7^th house!*) person in the 60s: he drank a lot and that ruined his first marriage.

DIVORCES

He married 4 times and his chart has all of the indications for it: Mars semi square Uranus, Venus inconjunct Neptune, Moon semi square Saturn and 157.5 Neptune. Those are all of the 4 possible signs of divorce in a males’ chart! Gender neutral is the opposition between ruler 1 and 7 in this chart. Yes, Barry Humphries’ chart got what it takes to get divorced.

SATURN

Barry Humphries’ chart shows that he is ambitious (Saturn rises before the Sun) and that his parents were important for who he became later (but not by following into their footsteps,, but by taking another road). It is interesting that his father was a construction (Saturn!) manager (Saturn!). Another way to express Saturn’s prominence is of course: getting old. And maybe (but I’m just guessing) he is much more serious in what he does than we expect a comedian to be.

They say that there is humor in Capricorn and Saturn.

TRANSIT SATURN ENDS

Right now Transit Neptune is semi square the midpoint of natal Asc/MC. That is often an indication for a moment of retirement. Mind if I point at transit Saturn trine the Sun and square Progressed Midheaven in September? Saturn ends, just like this story.

Chart of Bill Cosby

This is the natal chart of Bill Cosby, a talented actor (and comedian, author, television producer, educator, musician and activist).  We can see that he works in an artistic profession. The Moon (trine), Venus (biquintile) and Neptune (trine) are in aspect with Midheaven. That links the career to talent. Venus/Neptune midpoint is semi square the Moon. And Pallas is elevated with Jupiter: he is the positive role model. Even the importance of home and family life - the main subject of everything that he does - can be found. Sun/Moon midpoint is conjunct Vesta (keeper of the fire place) and AC/MC midpoint is opposition Vesta and Sun/Moon. Vesta is in the fifth house of show and entertainment to show us that his performances are about what is ‘domestic’.

We could stop here: a positive artistic role model of family life, but there is more, like the well aspected Uranus rising before the Sun and Venus and trine Midheaven (independence) or the opposition of Mercury and Pallas (a pattern of communications).

Maybe it is good to have a look at Venus sextile Saturn (ruler MC), because he does one man shows. In Dutch comedians are part of ‘kleinkunst’ (small art, literally). It is not meant as an insult! It means: performing art for entertainment. Venus is the symbol of entertainment and artists. Saturn is the symbol of 'small'. Venus-Saturn combinations often appear in the charts of similar kind of artists. Venus’ biquintile with Midheaven again shows a creative way to entertain the public.

If this was not the chart of Bill Cosby, but of any other man, it would be the chart of an optimist, a positive person, an international above all with an independent view. Jupiter and Uranus are prominent in this chart. They symbolize the helicopter view and the inventive mind. I also like Mercury quintile Uranus (a creative way of saying controversial or new things ....or creating new ideas and words). 

And what’s that Quaoar doing, inconjunct his Ascendant? Maybe creating a new perspective (but a little ‘overdone’:)? 

Perhaps there is more to mention, like the combination of Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto for the successful communications. But I stop here. A positive role model, motivated by the family and working with talent, creatively entertaining the public...that is how one can work with the possibilities of this natal chart. It can even be 'done' shorter: he has the capability (biquintile) to enjoy (Venus) the public (MC) and make people laugh. 

When he started his career in entertainment, transit Pholus and transit Jupiter were opposition his progressed Sun. He was at a positive turning point in life! That was 50 years ago and he's still working!

Meryl Streep and Margaret Thatcher

Meryl Streep has the role of the main character in the movie about Thatcher and really: they managed to make her look like the former PM! For an obvious reason there is a relationship between the actor and the person that he/she is impersonating. And so it is in the case of Margaret Thatcher and Meryl Streep.

Meryl Streep and Margaret Thatcher both have an aspect between Sun and Jupiter (Meryl the inconjunction, Margaret the square). They also both have an aspect between Sun and Pluto (Thatcher has the square again, Meryl Streep has a semi square). The combination of Sun with Jupiter and Pluto increases self confidence and is one of the keys to success (or is it the result of it? One never knows…)

Of course, they are very different. Their charts are also different. But there is another similarity. Both ladies have Mars rising before the Sun and that is typical for ‘iron ladies’ (as Mars is the symbol of iron, male energy and drive). You might say that both are driven and successful or driven by (towards) successes.

Their synastry doesn’t show much of a ‘relationship’. The Sun in Libra (Thatcher) doesn’t match the Sun in Cancer (Streep and their Moons are in Leo (Thatcher) and Taurus. But the Mars of Margaret is trine the Mars of Meryl, so that they could be working together (and in fact, they have a relationship in the professional field).

One of the differences: Mars with Ascendant/MC midpoint of Thatcher and Mercury with Ascendant/MC midpoint of Streep (communicating is a crucial factor).

The chart of Meryl Streep today has a Jupiter-Uranus ‘arrangement’. That is mirroring the commotion (controversy, too) and the great success of her latest movie. (BTW, Cancer has a rather good horoscope for 2012!: http://www.astromarkt.net/2012-2013-horoscopes.html

Meredith Baxter is on Oprah tonight. Good moment to have a look at the actress in the chart. It is a chart with the Sun in the last degree of Gemini, not making any (major) aspect. That is the symbol of someone drawing attention, like leaders, performers and stars. The Leo Moon seems to confirm this. There is also the pattern of professional artistic talents: a small trine between Moon, Venus and Neptune in Libra, with the Moon square and Neptune semi square Midheaven. Alexis Jordan ('Happiness') was born on April 7, 1992 in Columbia, South Carolina, USA. She has a natal chart with Venus quintile Uranus and Venus quintile Neptune, stating:  creating hypes in entertainment. 'Happiness' may not be a classic song, but your brains keep singing it:)! 

The most prominent planet in het chart is the symbol of beauty and style: Venus. Venus is 'calling' and at Aries Point (I mean that there are no major aspect in 5 degrees and in sign and that highlight style.  If she was born within 2 hours around midday, the Moon would make a Golden Yod with Venus and Uranus. That would be the perfect pattern of artistic talent, with a focus on Venus. Angular position could attribute to the complete picture, if only we knew her hour of birth (any suggestions?). That is the combination of the devoted audience.  She was worshipped by her fans! But where is the actrice in the chart?

We see that the Moon is in tight aspect with Venus (sextile) and Neptune (semi square) and with Midheaven (conjunction). That is a complete pattern of talent. With Venus inconjunct Ascendant style, sympathy or beauty came her way. The Sun quintile Midheaven made her creative in drawing attention. Sean Connery’s birth day is August 25. His chart is the chart of a cool and strong guy, a ' die hard'. Maybe it is not 'him' but his alter ego James Bond sure is! 

He was born on a day that Pluto was rising before the Sun conjunct Neptune. Pluto is the symbol of power, influence, force and strategy (or politics). Neptune is the symbol of fantasies, ideals, dreams and all other ' unreal' things in life, like movies. Connery IS Bond and all Bonds remind us of Connery. His first James Bond was Dr. No. The release date was Oktober 5, 1962.

Leonardo di Caprio: first of all a producer?

Leonardo di Caprio said that he wasn’t a sweet little boy, but a fighter. We can see that. Mars in Scorpio is rising before his Sun! That is a statement for someone who is first of all an activist, entrepeneur, soldier,  fighter or ...productive (a producer). 

BTW he is fighting for the environment (MC in Cancer) as a producer.  And maybe that is exactly what he wants to. Here is the chart.

This is the chart of Tony Curtis with transits and progressions for the day after hospitalization (July 13, 2010). Tony Curtis is an actor. The pattern of artistic talent (composed by Venus, Moon, Neptune, the signs that they rule and an aspect with Midheaven) is clear:

Queen Latifah is a rapper and an actress (also in commercials). That is not all. She has her own perfume line, she is a film producer and she was asked to recite a poem written by Mary Angelou at the memorial service for Michael Jackson. She has already written her autobio in 1999 (with P Sun-Pluto, an appropriate progression for digging up your past) and does kick boxing for fun. The surgery (breast reduction) that she underwent in early 2003 was in a period of changing life style.

Her nickname is very much in line with the positions of Sun and Moon. Latifah means ‘ delicate’ and isn’t Pisces one of the most delicate sun signs? Leo is the ‘ royal’ sign and that is where her Moon is.

The indications for a career in entertainment and styling are:

- Neptune without aspect in sign; a ‘ calling ‘ Neptune refers to fantasy, romance, ideals or beliefs and art at any possible level.
- Neptune is rising before the Sun and Mercury (so Neptune is the first rising outer planet); that is indicating an orientation on the non-material field (art, religion, ideals)
- Neptune conjunct Sun/Moon and semi square Jupiter/Pluto for being motivated by success as an artist (or an idealistic view) – and this somehow, anyhow

NEPTUNE is the most important planet in the chart. Neptune is the planet of orientation, the planet of vocation and the planet of motivation in this chart! Unfortunately, Neptune is also the planet of drugs. Queen Latifah was addicted to drugs in the 90s.
Other observations related to her professional career:

There is no direct connection between Moon, Venus, Neptune and Midheaven, but there is Venus opposition Uranus for sense of rhythm. This Venus-Uranus combination is frequent in the charts of dancers and singers and poets.

There are a number of dramas in her life, like the death of a brother on a motorcycle that she had given him or the carjacking that involved the death of a friend. She was arrested in 1996, with transit Saturn (symbol of restrictions) conjunct the natal Sun. Mars conjunct Saturn and this conjunction inconjunct Uranus mirror possible accidents, incidents, restricted freedom (and the short fuse). Kick boxing (hitting hard) fits with Mars-Saturn, too.
