Chart of Barry Humphries (Dame Edna)

Perez Hilton recently interviewed Barry Humphries, better know as Dame Edna, who announced to sort of retire a bit after the shows of this summer. And Mars is opposition Neptune, just like in Barry Humphries' chart. So time to have a look how the chart shows that he is in show bizz (he is a comedian, artist, author and character actor). Here is the chart and what do we get? I’ll show you where the talent, motivation, vocation and ambition is.

TALENT
First there is the usual pattern of artistic talent: Moon sextile Venus and trine Midheaven; Venus inconjunct Neptune, Moon 157.5 (sesquisquare + half semi square) Neptune. These aspects connect to construct the pattern of artistic professional talent. Moon, Venus, Neptune (and Midheaven) aren’t in the signs ruled by them (Cancer, Taurus, Libra and Pisces). Sun/Moon is in artistic Pisces, conjunct Mercury and Pallas in Pisces. And maybe I should include the minor aspects of Midheaven with Venus (68.7 a wider semi sesquisquare) and Neptune (binovile) to complete the picture of an artistic career.

MOTIVATION
That means that he is being motivated to be a messenger (communicating, writing, talking). Mercury is in Pisces and that makes it easy to tell tales.

VENUS CALLING!
Fun, that is Venus. I am happy to see that  Venus in his chart doesn’t make major aspects in sign or within an orb of 5 degrees. That is what I name a ‘calling’ Venus. People with a calling Venus have a sort of a vocation for what is beautiful, charming, diplomatic, nice or …fun! So now we have the chart of an ambitious person with artistic talent who wants to entertain at any possible level, somehow, anyhow!

DAME EDNA and SEDNA?
Barry is a comedian and Dame Edna is part of the comedy. Aquarius is frequent in the charts of comedians and Barry is an Aquarian. Uranus biquintile Midheaven is reflecting the creative ‘shock’ for the public. Purple hair IS a shock!:) Dressing up like a lady is always shocking or fun (depending on who watches it). Uranus is the recipe for controversy. But I also like to point at Sedna biquintile Neptune ruler Ascendant and the artist name resembling Sedna: Edna. (Mercury is in Pisces now that I write this blog post and conjunct my Node, sorry, but than you start seeing what rhymes!:)

VITALITY
Barry Humphries is still working at age 78 and that is rather special. The Aquarian Sun in aspect with Jupiter and Uranus (and Jupiter in aspect with Uranus) there is some understanding why: Humphries’ chart has some of the positions of those who reach a more than average age (see Astromarkt: age and astrology). He didn’t do much for it. I read that he did what he had to do as a Mars (in the 1st house) opposition Neptune  (in the 7th house!*) person in the 60s: he drank a lot and that ruined his first marriage.

DIVORCES
He married 4 times and his chart has all of the indications for it: Mars semi square Uranus, Venus inconjunct Neptune, Moon semi square Saturn and 157.5 Neptune. Those are all of the 4 possible signs of divorce in a males’ chart! Gender neutral is the opposition between ruler 1 and 7 in this chart. Yes, Barry Humphries’ chart got what it takes to get divorced.

SATURN
Barry Humphries’ chart shows that he is ambitious (Saturn rises before the Sun) and that his parents were important for who he became later (but not by following into their footsteps,, but by taking another road). It is interesting that his father was a construction (Saturn!) manager (Saturn!). Another way to express Saturn’s prominence is of course: getting old. And maybe (but I’m just guessing) he is much more serious in what he does than we expect a comedian to be.

They say that there is humor in Capricorn and Saturn.

TRANSIT SATURN ENDS
Right now Transit Neptune is semi square the midpoint of natal Asc/MC. That is often an indication for a moment of retirement. Mind if I point at transit Saturn trine the Sun and square Progressed Midheaven in September? Saturn ends, just like this story.

Chart of Stephen King and his new book

Stephen King is writing a novel about the murder of John F. Kennedy. Title: 11/22/63. Release: November 2011.

Stephen King's natal A-rated chart is here. With Midheaven opposition Mercury and Neptune we already notice the importance of 'making up stories' for his career. The trine of Pluto adds suspense. Venus is 'calling' (in sign conjunct Quaoar = new worlds of fun) and in Libra to illustrate entertainment and style at any possible level. Moon and Venus are 75 degrees apart.  We also see Moon sesquisqemisquare Neptune. Minor aspects often have a lot of impact. The tightest aspect is Mars opposition Pholus and  trine Jupiter for a lot of drive to make a change.

Stephen King is a specialist in horror stories. I like to 'blame' the orientational Mars, Saturn and Pluto (rising before his sun)  for a focus on unnatural death.

Presently, the progressed Sun changed sign and right now transit Uranus is trine his progressed Sun (I guess for being in the news with his novel-to-be). That is better news than on June 19, 1999 when he was hit by a car and got badly injured. That was with transit Pholus square natal Mars and square progressed Pholus, while in the progressed chart Mars was conjunct Saturn. The midpoint of transit Mars and Pholus was square natal Mars.  Indeed, a nasty (Saturn) turning point (Pholus) that could have been a ' death end' (Mars-Saturn). The astrological question is: did transit Jupiter square his Ascendant and inconjunct his Sun save him or was Jupiter the symbol of the 'horse power' that hit him?

Anyway, transit Pholus is now sesquisquare his progressed AC/MC midpoint an that is a statement for a general turning point (and maybe just telling us that he will be moving to another place:).

Chart of Jorge Luis Borges

It has been a long time. Time for another example of the pattern of artistic talents in a natal chart. All charts here have such a pattern. It is about the complete combination of Moon, Venus, Neptune and Midheaven and additional related signs like Cancer, Libra, Taurus and Pisces. Here is the chart. It is the one of Jorge Luis Borges.

Short report:

Neptune is quintile Moon and sextile Venus.
Venus rules Midheaven and is half semi square Midheaven.

And see how prominent Moon, Venus and Neptune are! Venus rises before the Sun, between Sun and Mercury. Neptune is the first rising outer planet. And the Moon is elevated.

The Moon, Venus and Neptune are connected and related to Midheaven. They are also prominent in the chart.

This is a complete pattern of a professional artist already. The sign Cancer is important because the Ascendant is Cancer. Taurus is important because Midheaven is in Taurus. There is also Mercury quintile Jupiter for creative succes with communications and Venus in aspect with Jupiter/Pluto (for earning a lot of money).

Astrology chart Vaclav Havel (playwright)

When you see the natal chart of Vaclav Havel (former President of the Czech Republic, born October 5 1936 at about 15:00 hours) you immediately see the political leader*). Perhaps that is why when we are asked who Havel is, we think of the President first.

But Vaclav Havel also is a playwright and poet (after studying drama). That part of Havel is shown by the fact that Mercury (planet of the writer) doesn't make major aspects in sign while Neptune's oriental position is reflecting the imaginary world of fantasy, beliefs and idealism. There is also the Moon in Gemini (need to communicate) in the 5th house of creativity, square Neptune (fantasy, fiction) and Neptune septile Venus. Venus is half semisquare and Neptune is quintile the Midheaven. Here we have a complete pattern of artistic talent used as a professon!

However, Mercury only makes a soft aspect with Midheaven. Pluto is trine Midheaven (out of sign) and Mars makes a square. His career involved political (Pluto) discussions (Mercury-Mars) and later in life he remained political active (Mars-Pluto). But I think he uses creative thinking to be good at it!

*)THE POLITICAL LEADER IN THE CHART
The Sun does not make major aspects in sign
The Sun is quintile Pluto
Pluto is on the Descendant

It bareley takes mare to describe a person who will always draw attention and who wants to be in the center of it (the star: Sun) and who is also a strategist when it comes to it (Pluto on an angle).

Astrology chart Agatha Christie

On September 15, 1890 one of the greatest authors of detectives was born: Agatha Christie. It was in Torquay, at about 4:30 a.m., when Neptune and Pluto were on top together, Saturn was rising just before the Sun and conjunct Ascendant and Mercury didn't make any major aspect within 5 degrees. Secrets, discretion, hidden danger and suspense would mark her life and that is in line with Neptune-Pluto.

In 1926 'The murder of Roger Ackroyd' was a successful mystery and so is the fact that Agatha leaves her husband for about 12 days within giving notice of her whereabouts. That year she has progressed MC inconjunct Jupiter for success, but....(not happy). A divorce follows in 1928. That is when the progressed Sun is changing sign to indicate a different kind of life or another lifestyle. She meets another man and marries him.*)

But how about the writer in her chart? Here is the pattern of talent:
Moon in the sign of style, Libra
Neptune is elevated
Moon is trine MC
Neptune is conjunct MC (translation of light by the Moon)
Venus inconjunct Neptune (artistic talent and romantic feelings, but...not well balanced)
Moon trine Neptune
And
Mercury (ruler of the MC) is in Libra, without aspects!
In other words: Neptune (on top) is connected to Venus, Moon and Midheaven in the sign of communications (Gemini) and that is a complete astrological pattern of artistic talents! In addition, Saturn is angular and Saturn rules the 5th house of entertainment (even though Saturn gives it a serious touch:). Mercury is the planet of communications (writing, talking, transport). Her career (MC) is defined by her communication skills. And those skills can reach any level (because Mercury has exclamation marks - no aspects!-).

The Moon trine Jupiter in the 5th house gives and astrological explanation for the reason why she loved to travel. Venus, Neptune and Pluto are in aspect with the Ascendant. Perhaps that is the perfect statement for mysterious pleasures and entertainment connected with her name?

*) Indications for more than one marriage: Sun square Mars, Mars 105 degrees from Saturn, Saturn in the first house square ruler 7 (Neptune).

Astrology chart Louis Ferdinand Céline

Doctor and controversial (anti semitic) talented writer Louis-Ferdinand Celine was born in the 19th century with Mars oriental. He started his career in the First World War as a soldier. He was honoured with medals. This inspired him later in 'Journey to the End of the Night'. He was an outstanding writer at least when he wrote his first book. Where do we find that in his chart? I found his hour of birth on Astro.com but I get another degree of ASC and Midheaven that they do, using my computer program (astrolab)_. The reason that I remembered Celine is that Sarkozy quoted him.

Controversy is indicated by the position of Uranus 157.5 degrees from Sun/Moon. He was motivated by rebellion, change and independance. Uranus happens to be the ruler of the 5th equal house (the creative house). The racist in the chart is perhaps illustrated by CERES (symbol of genes) conjunct AC/MC JUST LIKE NEPTUNE. Neptune is the symbol of the ideal. Idealisation of the family and racial background (Ceres) is one of the ways the Neptune-Ceres relationship with AC/MC could .

Celine has a Pisces Moon for empathy and fantasy.
The Leo Midheaven has Mercury in Gemini as final dispositor. Mercury is strong in Gemini and Mercury is the planet of communications.

Venus is opposition Ascendant. This crucial angular placement contributes to style and art.

Neptune is square the crosspoint of the chart: AC/MC. That means that art, fantasy and fiction is of crucial importance.

Venus and Neptune are septile to reflect inspirational artistic talent.

The Libra Ascendant helps to see the world more beautiful or 'arty' as it is.

That is the astrological pattern of artistic talent. One might wonder if the Midheaven is in Cancer perhaps, with the Moon in Pisces ruling the MC and again Mercury in Gemini final dispositor.

WRITER
Mercury is strong in Gemini, but there is another reason why communicating (writing) is so important for this chart. Sixty percent of the placements is in air signs and air signs symbolize communicating. Gemini is a movable sign and 70% of the placements in this chart is in movable signs.
In 1932 he published for the first time: he became an artist. That was the year that progressed Venus joined his natal Sun. His book was a success. Later works were very anti semitic so that he had to leave France in June 1944 untill amnesty in 1951. In 1951 his progressed Sun changed sign, just like his life style changed.

Astrology chart Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr is an actor, a writer and a comedienne (a stand up comedian). Last night I saw a dated show that ended with her dancing like Madonna in a sort of a ballet suit, never minding her weight, to show that there is no need to be afraid:)

Weight
Roseanne Barr has been overweight all her life. In the early 80s she became famous with an overweight stand-up comedy routine. Her overweight is part of her identity. Jupiter in Taurus is inconjunct Venus in Sagittarius. Both signs like what is nice and ask for more. The inconjunctions shows that there is little balance when it comes to a party and an extreme love for 'a lot' of candy. Jupiter in Taurus (the one that makes you bigger and/or great) is also sesquisquare the crucial midpoint AC/MC, promissing success and growth (in whatever direction).
More about obese and astrology on this blog in the post 'Why we are fat and what part of the chart can we blame for it'...

Artistic pattern
Roseanne Barr has the Moon sesquisquare Neptune. Venus is 112.5 degrees from Sun/Moon. Neptune is semi quintile Midheaven. Moon is opposition Venus/Midheaven and Neptune is semi square Venus/Midheaven.
The fact that minor aspects and midpoints are relating Moon, Venus and Neptune might mean that there is talent behind the woman on stage (preparations for example).

The elevated unaspected Sun shows 'show' (to be above all in the center of attention somehow, anyhow). I think that it is that this is very important, seen in the light of her career.
There are more indications for a career in the world of entertainment, like the position of the Midheaven conjunct Sun/Venus and 112.5 degrees from Jupiter/Neptune (for the fans and the audience).

More observations
In her chart Neptune rises before the elevated, not aspected Sun. Venus doesn't make major aspects either. The tightest major aspect is Mars trine Jupiter. The tightest minor aspect is Sun 112.5 degrees (square + half semi square) Uranus.

Meanings
This shows that she is first of all an idealist or an artist with talents and a great drive, who is likely to draw attention at any possible level, anyhow. The aspect between Sun and Uranus reflects that she is (often) a controversial person, different than others, special, causing upheavel. She mentioned that she was an outsider always. (Also notice Mercury sesquisquare Uranus for controversial opinions - and changing your mind, btw -).

Marriages
Uranus affliction with the Sun is one of the aspects that shows a risk for divorce (or being a bachelor) in the chart of a woman. Another sign is an affliction between the first and seventh house. Her Uranus rules the first house and the Sun is dispositor of the seventh house of marriages. Add this with Venus and the Moon in the double bodied signs Sagittarius and Gemini and with Pluto in the seventh house (turning relationships into challenges) conjunct Sun/Moon and there is the picture of a three times divorced celebrity who is now living on her own.

Adoption
I read that she had a child in 1971 and that she arranged an adoption. In 1971 she had progressed Midheaven opposition Ceres (symbol of motherhood). In the progressed chart Mercury (natal ruler of the 5th house of procreation and of the 4th progressed house of family) was conjunct Midheaven. There were signs of changing times:
- the progressed Sun was changing sign to Sagittarius.
- in the solar return chart for her birthday in 1970 in Denver, Uranus is opposition Midheaven

Midheaven 'calling'
There are no aspects of Midheaven within 5 degrees orb or within sign, so Midheaven is 'calling'. That means that her career, status and position can reach any level (up or down) and will strongly be influenced by others or by opportunities symbolized by transits and progressions. The Midheaven receives one minor aspect: a semi quintile from Neptune, the symbol of the artist.
(Perhaps the unaspected Midheaven has a role in the syndrome of DID, because the identity is fluctuating?).

Venus-Pluto
Venus is 112.5 degrees from Pluto (square + half semi square). The combination of Venus and Pluto is the combination of the beauty and the beast (and of earning money). More about Venus-Pluto on Astromarkt...She also has Mars biquintile Pluto, expressing a creative way to use influence (and perhaps also a creative way to deal with the power and force of males). The combination of Venus-Mars-Pluto shows intense passion and drive.

DID and Michael Jackson
Recently Roseanne Barr wrote a public letter to Michael Jackson's children in July 2009. She said MJ asked her to call him the day before he died and she didn't call him back soon enough. She mentioned DID (dissociative identity disorder - more than 1 personality: notice the Moon in a double bodied sign, afflicted by Saturn and Neptune) as a result of her youth. Here is the link to Examiner.com...

One thing for sure: she cannot sing the national anthem. See YouTube...
See her on stage on YouTube and watch the comments: they love her or they dislike her!

Astrology chart J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter)

There is no writer in the world who achieved what J.K. Rowling did. She is a million seller! For all those who want to follow into her footsteps: here is her natal chart. Let us see what it takes to become as famous as she is.

SUN, JUPITER, MERCURY and PLUTO
The Sun is the most elevated object in the chart (square Ascendant). The Sun doesn't make major aspects in sign. That signifies that she will draw attention at any possible level.

Jupiter is rising before the Sun, for a positive attitude, success, travelling (the international; she was married to a Portugese man in the 90's).

Jupiter is also sesqui semi square Sun/Moon and semi square Sun, square the Moon and sextile Midheaven. The combination of Sun, Moon and Jupiter comes back 3 times (Sun/Moon 67.5 Jupiter, Sun/Jupiter 67.5 Moon and Moon/Jupiter conjunct Sun. This combination promises success because the nativity is motivated by optimism, growth and development.
Mercury, the planet of communications, is 'calling'. Mercury is conjunct the midpoint Sun/Moon. That makes her in heart and soul a writer (someone with a message).

Sun, Mercury and Jupiter are prominent in her chart and they are connected by hard aspects. The Sun is half semi square Mercury and semi square Jupiter. The Sun is also semi septile Pluto. This combination of Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto is a combination for many many words and great success in communicating.JUPITER, NEPTUNE and MIDHEAVEN
Mars, Jupiter and Neptune are in aspect with Midheaven. Neptune is square MC. That strongly relates fantasy, empathy and vision to the career. Many astrologers say that Neptune-MC aspect reflects a negative attitude to the profession (and gives a tendency to run away from the usual job).Perhaps, but it is also a strong indication for artistic talents. Jupiter and Neptune together, related to Midheaven, show 'the believing audience', the fans and the followers. Mars-Jupiter makes highly productive. Mars-Neptune however points at wasted energy (or: energy used for a fantasy:).

The Moon is tightly square Jupiter; that is for growing popularity and being used to successes.

PROGRESSIONS
She finished her first book in 1995 (with progressed Mercury conjunct Midheaven and progressed Sun conjunct Venus). A year later she found an editor (progressed Midheaven conjunct Moon and progressed Uranus conjunct Pluto are two signs of change).

In June 1997 the first Harry Potter was printed. Transit Uranus was opposition Sun at the time and Jupiter trine Jupiter. Later that year her progressed Midheaven was square Jupiter (the planet of editors and success). That is when she became famous. The first time that she thought of writing about Harry Potter was in 1990, with MC conjunct Pluto. From 1990 to 1997 she lived between Pluto and Jupiter, the combination of great success, but she was not aware of it. In December of 1994 she returned, divorced and depressed, from Portugal to Edinburgh and that was exactly in the middle of the period from the start of her 'vision' till the moment that the book appeared. (There were thorns on the rose bed: J.K. Rowling had a bad time after her divorce. Mars inconjunct Saturn is the reflection of that. The Mars-Saturn combination is the combination of energy ending, of death and of a blockade.) Even that dark period was a period of inspiration. She 'invented' the Dementors...

CHILDREN's BOOK, WHY?
Why is she writing a book for children? I think that it is because of the fantasy. Her works (MC) have an aspect of fiction (Neptune). Neptune happens to be the ruler of the 5th house of games, play, entertainment and ...children. You can read this combination of Neptune ruler 5 square Midheaven as follows: work related to children's fantasy...

ARTISTIC/CREATIVE PATTERN
She has Venus quintile Neptune (70d04m), Neptune square Midheaven and sextile Moon. Notice the position of Pallas on the IC. Pallas is often angular in the charts of talented people.

EDUCATION
Jo Rowling has a BA in French and Classics.

CONCLUSION
She was talented and telling stories from the start had a good education and was strongly driven and never stopped trying to get her book in the shelves. A Scorpio Ascendant for pushing. She has a very positive attitude (Jupiter oriental in aspect with Sun/Moon; you may notice that her chart is strongly reflecting the positive personality of Harry Potter).. She is a communicator in heart and soul at any possible level and she drew attention (in a positive way)....It will be difficult to copy all thát...
