Astrology chart Louis Ferdinand Céline

Doctor and controversial (anti semitic) talented writer Louis-Ferdinand Celine was born in the 19th century with Mars oriental. He started his career in the First World War as a soldier. He was honoured with medals. This inspired him later in 'Journey to the End of the Night'. He was an outstanding writer at least when he wrote his first book. Where do we find that in his chart? I found his hour of birth on Astro.com but I get another degree of ASC and Midheaven that they do, using my computer program (astrolab)_. The reason that I remembered Celine is that Sarkozy quoted him.

Controversy is indicated by the position of Uranus 157.5 degrees from Sun/Moon. He was motivated by rebellion, change and independance. Uranus happens to be the ruler of the 5th equal house (the creative house). The racist in the chart is perhaps illustrated by CERES (symbol of genes) conjunct AC/MC JUST LIKE NEPTUNE. Neptune is the symbol of the ideal. Idealisation of the family and racial background (Ceres) is one of the ways the Neptune-Ceres relationship with AC/MC could .

Celine has a Pisces Moon for empathy and fantasy.
The Leo Midheaven has Mercury in Gemini as final dispositor. Mercury is strong in Gemini and Mercury is the planet of communications.

Venus is opposition Ascendant. This crucial angular placement contributes to style and art.

Neptune is square the crosspoint of the chart: AC/MC. That means that art, fantasy and fiction is of crucial importance.

Venus and Neptune are septile to reflect inspirational artistic talent.

The Libra Ascendant helps to see the world more beautiful or 'arty' as it is.

That is the astrological pattern of artistic talent. One might wonder if the Midheaven is in Cancer perhaps, with the Moon in Pisces ruling the MC and again Mercury in Gemini final dispositor.

WRITER
Mercury is strong in Gemini, but there is another reason why communicating (writing) is so important for this chart. Sixty percent of the placements is in air signs and air signs symbolize communicating. Gemini is a movable sign and 70% of the placements in this chart is in movable signs.
In 1932 he published for the first time: he became an artist. That was the year that progressed Venus joined his natal Sun. His book was a success. Later works were very anti semitic so that he had to leave France in June 1944 untill amnesty in 1951. In 1951 his progressed Sun changed sign, just like his life style changed.

Astrology chart George Harrison

George Harrison was a famous musician and my favorite Beatle when I was 15. He played the guitar (notice that Mars is the first outer planet rising before the Sun, symbolizing the use of instruments and tools). He also sang on the background mostly (see Mercury - symbol of the voice - on the lowest spot in the chart, the IC).

PATTERN
The astrological pattern of artistic talent is obvious in this chart. George Harrison had a Moon in the first degree of Scorpio, inconjunct the Pisces Venus on Aries Point and semi sextile Neptune in the second degree of Libra, opposition Venus (out of sign). Venus is in mutual reception with Neptune at the end of the vocational routing through the MC.
It is a keen pattern of artistic talent (MC related Venus <> Neptune inconjunct Moon) with Venus as an important player on Aries Point, without major aspects in sing. Venus is the symbol of taste, style and sense of beauty. The position of Neptune square Sun/Moon shows that he was motivated by arts and music. And the angular Moon on the Ascendant contributed to his popularity.

DEATH
There are several indications for illnesses in his chart and there is an unfortunate conjunction of the rulers of the Ascendant and the eight house of life and death with the fixed star Scheat.

Three inconjunctions and a semi sextile tell us about possible illnesses (inconjuntions refer to something without balance from the start). His Sun in Pisces (ruled by Neptune) is square Saturn and that is another indication for illnesses (Saturn-Neptune).

With Saturn opposition Ascendant in the progressed chart he became a patient. When he died in November 2001, the progressed chart had Mars, the ruler of the IC (symbol of life ending) inconjunt Pluto in the eight house of life and death. This aspect combination refers to or activated the Mars-Pluto quindecile in the natal chart with Pluto (the symbol of transformation) on Midheaven.

As I mentioned before: Venus is the most important planet in this chart. Venus is on Aries Point, 'calling!' and ruling the Ascendant. It is a statement for pleasure and entertainment, for style and luxury, too. Unfortunately the important Venus is conjunct the fixed star Scheat and ...Venus also rules the eight house of life and death. Perhaps this attributed to his early death. RIP

Astrology chart Sydney Poitier

Yesterday transit Jupiter was square the progressed Sun of Sydney Poitier. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama. Jupiter is the symbol of prosperity!

Sydney Poitier, actor and director, was one of the first successful black men in the world of entertainment (in the USA). His chart is reflecting his artistic talent and his successes. The Moon (dispositor of Midheaven = career), Venus and Neptune rule each other and Neptune is connected to the midpoint AC/MC and semi square Midheaven. Cancer on Midheaven, Moon in Libra, Venus in Pisces and Ascendant Libra...they all contribute to the pattern of artistic talent! The midpoint of Sun and Moon (Sun/Moon; reflecting motivation, heart and soul) is sesqui square the midpoint of great success: Jupiter/Pluto.

Astrology chart Olivia Newton-John

Olivia Newton-John's chart has the ethereal planet Neptune without major aspects; a so called 'calling' Neptune. It means that she is an empathic person with fantasy or compassion or vision at any possible level. Such a 'calling' state of Neptune is perfect for an artist and for a romantic person. Neptune is even more important, because of the 67.5 degrees from AC/MC (that is a sesqui semi square), making Neptune of crucial importance. The important Neptune goes together with a strong Moon in Cancer in the 10th house (for the ability to memorize and keep memories alive by interpreting or copying behavior = acting). Venus is conjunct the midpoint Sun/Moon for being motivated by pleasure, entertainment and beauty. The mutual reception of Sun and Venus at the end of the vocational routing through the MC also points at the star in the world of entertainment, the beauty. With the Sun in Libra and Moon in Cancer (ruled by Venus and Moon) she was already born with sense of beauty. Mercury quintile Venus gives her a creative talent in communications.

FANS
With Jupiter opposition, Venus sextile and Neptune 112.5 degrees from Midheaven, her public career is related to having devoted fans and followers (the Jupiter-Neptune combination) even though she sings that she is totally devoted to YOU:)
Jupiter is sesquisquare AC/MC (Neptune is 67.5 AC/MC): this shows again how important her fans are for her position in society.
I don't often name the Pars Fortunae, but it is very obviously positioned on top of the chart (exactly square AC, conjunct Midheaven). You'd almost think that Olivia was born for fortune, if you didn't know that she survived breast cancer and that a nasty affair keeps coming back in the press...

MARS AFFLICTED AND PATRICK MCDERMOTT
On June 30, 2005 Patrick McDermott (a man without date of birth, adopted) disappeared during a fishing*) trip. He is presumed to be alive and well and only on the run because of debts. Rumors grow, and it may not be long before he will be arrested. He lived with Olivia Newton-John, who's now married (since 2008). That brings a nasty story back into her life during the transit of Saturn square her Midheaven and with Mars opposition Uranus in her progressed chart. When her friend left home she had:
- progressed Sun changing sign (and the first aspects in the new sign would be with Saturn - a square - and Uranus - trine-)
- transit Pluto square Ascendant
- progressed Midheaven inconjunct Vertex
Olivia has indications for separation from men and problems with males in general in her natal chart. Conflicts with Mars (square Pluto, 75 degrees from Saturn, sesquisquare Uranus, square Venus) show that she needs to take care who to trust and that she might be forced to defend herself (for example: against aggression). The semi quintile of Mars and Jupiter shows creative enterprise. But let's get back to the artist in the chart.

VOICE = MERCURY!
Why is she a singer/actor and not a painter, for example? Look at the Midheaven in Gemini, pointing at communications and messages. And the ruler, Mercury, doesn't make Ptolemaic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. When a planet doesn't make major aspects in sign it is a 'calling' planet. What Mercury calls is the voice, the message and communication in general. She is not a writer, but a singer and actor because of the elevated ruler of the 5th house: show, entertainment!

FAME
She started her solo career in 1969, when the progressed Uranus returned to the natal position. Perhaps this stimulated her individuality. In 1974 she won the Eurovision Song Festival with 'A long live love'. Shortly after that she went to the USA. In 1974 her progressed Sun was in the 29th degree of Libra. The position of the Sun in the final degrees of a sign is reflecting a transformational period. The final aspect in that sign was with the ruler of Midheaven (Mercury). She became famous all over the world. Jupiter's crucial angular position (opposition Midheaven and sesquisquare AC/MC) tells us that traveling is of importance for her career. I already mentioned the importance of Neptune. In 1978 (the year of GREASE) in the progressed chart Neptune was conjunct the Ascendant.

ILLNESS
She was born with Saturn rising before the Sun. Later, in progression, Neptune became the oriental planet. A prominent Saturn and Neptune sesquisquare Node and square Midheaven AND conjunct Ascendant might be indicating the period of illness in her life. The period of the battle against cancer in 1992 is mirrored by the progressed aspect of Sun square Pluto. This aspect often intensifies the lifestyle, changes it and brings problems (Pluto) to the light (Pluto), the hard way (square). Notice that her progressed Midheaven changed sign to indicate that her condition, position and public name altered in that year, 1992.

*) interesting coincidence is that Neptune (the most important planet in the chart of Olivia) is the god of the sea.

Astrology chart Ryan O'Neal

Ryan O Neal was born on April 20, 1941 at 21h34 PST in LA with a Taurus Sun and Moon in Pisces, exactly inconjunct Pluto and sextile Venus. You immediately notice the difficult habits (see the post about Moon inconjunct Pluto). This blog is about the astrological pattern of artistic talents, so let us find the actor in his chart*). It doesn't take long, because it is so obvious.

Neptune is conjunct Midheaven.
Neptune is biquintile Venus.
Neptune is 157.5 degrees (sesquisquare + half semisquare) from Moon
That is enough for a complete pattern of artistic talent, already. Moon, Venus, MC and Neptune are connected! But there is more...

The Moon is in Pisces
Venus is in Taurus
Venus is the final dispositor of Midheaven

There is a need to 'hide or run' into fantasy or dreams and a good sense of what is valuable and nice. Also, the career is related to entertainment (Venus). Still there are more indications:
- The Sun is opposition AC/MC and that is a perfect position for a star, for wanting to be in the center of attention, for taking the 'lead'.
- Venus is also opposition AC/MC. This midpoint yod points at the crucial importance of beauty and charm.
- Pluto is square AC/MC and that shows the importance of money, influence, strength,

Sun and Venus are square Pluto, reflecting a difficult or challenging love life. The tightest aspect in the natal chart of Ryan O'Neal is Moon inconjunct Pluto and that apparently causes the personal problems and difficult behaviour. But let's stay on topic and get back to the artist: watch Pallas on the Ascendant. There are many more examples of people working in the business of entertainment and art with an angular Pallas in their chart.

Larry King had an interview with Griffin, O'Neal's son about Ryan. Now the world is certain that they don't like each other. The interview came after the funeral of Farrah Fawcett, who also has an affliction between Mars and Saturn in her chart. (Griffin's mother died 10 years ago). I think that when men are sharing a hard aspect between Mars and Saturn it may be the kind of relationship that includes hitting hard and getting hurt. Ryan and Griffin share a hard aspect with Mars and Saturn that is perhaps the key. Their lives are joined by this issue.

Griffin is also an actor. Here you see the chart of his birthday (no hour of birth available). The complex aspects with Mercury and the unaspected Sun (for drawing attention anyhow) are perhaps good tools in the hands of an actor, but the affliction of Mercury with Moon and Neptune complicates fact finding and communications in general. See the post about Mercury's effect...

If you want to know more about the match of Ryan O'Neal with his late ex-wife Farrah Fawcett, see Astrology-love-romance.blogspot.com and the post with the same date as today.

*)PS to explain:
The pattern of artistic talent is made by aspects between Moon, Venus, Neptune and Midheaven, the special positions of Moon, Venus or Neptune and the signs that they rule.

Astrology chart Guy de Maupassant

Guy de Maupassant was a writer and a poet, born August 5, 1850 at 8:00 a.m. LMT im Miromesnil. It doesn't matter when you were born. The same planets, signs, positions and aspects tell about the astrological pattern of artistic talents. In the chart of De Maupassant the pattern is like this:

1. He has an elevated Moon
2. The Moon is in Cancer (strong in own sign)
3. The Moon is exactly trine Neptune (for sensitive senses)
4. Venus is angular (on the Ascendant (or has some creative astrologer invented this hour of birth? it is just to 'fitting'!)
5. Venus is quindecile Neptune (for artistic talents)
6. Gemini rules Midheaven (for communications envolved in the career)
7. Venus square Midheaven? (with just a few minutes difference)
8. Mercury half semi square Sun/Moon (for being motivated by words/communicating)
9. Neptune opposition Mercury/Jupiter (a midpoint yod pointing at Neptune = fantasy) for successful communications.
10. Almost forgot: the Moon is rising before the Sun for a keen 'feeling' for what the public wants and needs most (because his public and people come first).

Venus is conjunct Jupiter on the Ascendant (Just like in the chart of Rajmata Gayatri Devi of Jaipur the popular and charming royal 'socialite'). Guy de Maupassant was popular, too.
