Astrology chart Andrea Bocelli

Did I say that I posted the last chart of an artist? If I did, I lied because it might be the one that I am posting now!:) I noticed that Adrea Bocelli is coming over to Southern California and that is a good reason to pay attention to his natal chart!
Andrea Bocelli is a very famous singer with a touching voice. He was born September 22, 1958 at 5h15 a.m. in Laiatico (close to Pisa). That is when Mercury was prominent and Mercury is the symbol of the oice. Mercury is important for 4 reasons:

1. For being the final dispositor of Midheaven
2. For being conjunct Ascendant
3. For being strong in own sign Virgo
(4. Because Mercury is rising before the Sun)

Mercury is conjunct Venus (communications with style), Venus is semi sextile Uranus (sense of rhythm) and square Midheaven (that relates the career to entertainment). Mercury is semi square Jupiter/Neptune. That shows that he has a devoted audience! And watch the position of Saturn. Saturn could be read as the ' classical' component, just like it is in the chart of Andre Rieux.also very popular and ' classical' .

One year Art&Astrology

A year ago I started Art&Astrology to show the patterns of artistic talents related to a career in the charts of artist, musicians, painter, photographers, singers and composers...There are about 193 charts on this blog now and I think that that is enough. I am starting a new project in 2010 (read Astropost in January!). If and when any professional in the field of arts or entertainment is in the news, have a look at Astropost.blogspot.com for that is where you will find post about the charts of the celebrities. This blog will remain as an archive (and maybe, from time to time there will be a post about finding the artist in the chart...). Thanks for being here!

Astrology chart of Bjork

Bjork is a Scorpio, with a Scorpio Moon and a Scorpio Ascendant. Above all, she has Pluto on top of her chart conjunct Midheaven and Pluto rules Scorpio. Pluto is trine Venus in the second house. This makes it important and rather easy to make money. She makes money with singing. Pluto is mirroring the facts of life, money, influence and ‘ being sexy’ .

ARTS
There is a keen pattern of artistic talent in her chart. Like in the charts of the other talents on this blog, Venus, Moon, Neptune and Midheaven are linked to each other.
- The Midheaven is in aspect with Venus, Neptune and Moon. Venus and Neptune are prominent, because Venus is in aspect with ASC/MC and the angular Neptune is in aspect with Sun/Moon and rising before the Sun. The Virgo Midheaven with Pluto and Uranus are trine Venus and sextile Neptune. The Midheaven is also semi square Moon. -

SONGS
Bjork is a singer and a songwriter. For this we see a T-square with Mercury and a mutual reception of Mercury and Jupiter, disposing of the Midheaven vocational routing. Mercury is reflecting communications (written and spoken or ... singing it) . Also Venus is trine Uranus for sense of rhythm!

SUCCESS
Bjork is not just ‘ an ‘ artist. She is very successful. We can see that from the funnel pattern in her chart, with Pluto leading and with the focus on Jupiter.

TIMES FOR A CHANGE

Here are three years of importance with the progressions of those years:

1. When she was about 11/12 years old her career started. She studied classical piano at the time. Saturn is the symbol of ‘ classics’ . In that year she had progressed Sun square Saturn.
2. She started to be an actor in 1990, with progressed Midheaven square Venus. Venus is the planet of entertainment and style and part of the artistic pattern.
3. She dramatically changed her style in 1994. In 1994 she was almost 30. Her progressed Sun was about to change sign to Capricorn, making one last important aspect in Sagittarius: the opposition with Jupiter (symbol of success). This means that she changed her life style with success. The progressed Midheaven is than sextile Mercury and Mercury is square Uranus and Pluto. The combination of Mercury, Uranus and Pluto is reflecting a changing mind and revolutionary ideas.

Bjork is very special and completely different. Uranus and Pluto on top of her chart are mirroring the complete transformation that took place when she changed her style from a little angel into a woman who beats it!

Astrology chart Andrew Lloyd Webber

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber was born into an artistic family. That is why we see Ceres (symbol of the roots and genes) conjunct Midheaven (career, profession) and both conjunct Venus (talent, style).

The astrological pattern of artistic talent is build by aspects between Moon, Venus, Neptune and Midheaven and related to the signs ruled by Moon, Venus and Neptune. In the chart of Andrew Lloyd Webber the pattern is as follows:

Taurus on Midheaven
Venus conjunct Midheaven
Venus in Taurus
Venus biquintile Neptune (creative artistic talent!)
Moon semi square Neptune (sensitivity)
Venus final dispositor of the Midheaven routing
Moon conjunct Ascendant
Jupiter is ruler of the 5th house of creations and is rising before the Sun

The Sun doesn't make major aspects in sign and is positioned on Aries Point. That is an indication for drawing attention, for show, for leadership and for the 'star'.

This is not a complete reading of a chart. It is just to show you the major keys to the talent of this artist.

Chart of Mama Cass Elliot

Cass Elliot was one of the Mamas & Papas and she died too soon, probably due to dieting or eating disorder she had a heart attack. She had a beautiful thrilling voice and we can see that in her chart: Uranus (thrilling) in Gemini (communication) and Uranus is the ruler of the Midheaven (the career). Venus, Jupiter and Pluto were aspecting the midpoint of motivation: Sun/Moon. It is the combination for big money and a lot of love. Notice the semi square between Jupiter and Pluto, indicating the wasted energy in that field. With Sun conjunct Neptune and trine Saturn ruler of the 8th house in the equal house system, there was a certain risk for illnesses and early swift death, related to nutrition (Ceres is in the 8th house!). In the year 1974 her progressed Sun was in the final degree of Libra and about to make an inconjunction with URanus, progressed ruler 8 in the equal house system. Also, the tighest aspect in her chart is the square between Venus in the sixth house of diet with Pluto, reflecting the price you pay for beauty and pleasure. More about aspects between Venus and Pluto on my site Astromarkt...

For the artist we seee that Neptune is rising before the Sun in a tight conjunction with the Sun. The Moon (unaspected!) is inconjunct Midheaven, Neptune is sesquisquare and Venus is square Midheaven. But there is no connection between them (though there is a 15d distance between Moon and Neptune). It is like if there is no such need for ideal beauty or pleasure, but that it is the career related to beauty and pleasure and sweet dreams.

Cass Elliot was a big woman and food killed her. I think that Ceres is the key, because Ceres is in the eight house, inconjunct Saturn and square Sun-Neptune. The combination of Sun-Saturn-Neptune is the combination of being ill or sick. Ceres is the symbol of nutrition (and genes). Something was wrong and Uranus on the Ascendant is a perfect way to express that her presentation (looks) was just as special as her voice was. Uranus is not making aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees, so that Uranus is 'calling', making her special at any possible level, anyhow!

On YouTube they have a clip of one of the best songs of the Mamas and the Papas: Safe in my garden, that you can hear here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-chvVBrqwOc

Astrology chart Walt Whitman

Walt Whitman has a statue in Moscow now and I have his chart to share with you. Walt Whitman was a homosexual and therefore controversial poet. Professional artistic talent in a chart is indicated by aspects or other connections between Moon, Venus, Neptune and Midheaven. These are the indications for artistic talent in Walt Whitman's chart:

1. Moon trine Neptune for sense of art and finetuned feelings
2. Venus in Taurus for style and beauty
3. Venus conjunct Ascendant for the prominence of style
4. Venus without major or minor aspects (! calling Venus!) for style and pleasure as an important issue

5. Sun rules 5th house of creativity and is square AC/MC
6. Jupiter is half semisquare AC/MC
7. Neptune is 157.5 (sesquisquare and half semi square) AC/MC
(Together Sun, Jupiter and Neptune create the combination of the devoted audience and performance as a crucial factor)

8. Moon is in the 5th house of creativity, representing the need to be creative

Whitman was a poet, so he needed words in his job. Mercury is in aspect with his Midheaven. He was controversial for being openly gay (Sun quindecile = 165 degrees - Uranus and semi square Mars; Mars trine Uranus). There are a few keys for not getting married as usual, like Moon in the 5th house inconjunct Saturn and of course the Mars-Uranus connection. The Neptune-Uranus aspect with progressed Midheaven right now is an indication for the controversial effect of the statue in Moscow right now.

WHY NOW?
The Moscow statue is news now that Whitman's chart has a Jupiter return with Jupiter inconjunct IC like in the natal chart. Jupiter is the planet of success and of traveling or the international setting.
For the picture of his statue, click here...

Poem hunter has a lot of poems by Walt Whitman on his site: http://www.poemhunter.com/walt-whitman/

Astrology chart Nicholas Cage

Actor Nicholas Cage has the Moon in Libra. This means that he has sense of style. It is one of the positions involved in 'the astrological pattern of artistic talents' that is based upon the aspects or relations of Moon, Venus and Neptune with each other and with Midheaven (to have an artistic career), like in the chart of Nicholas Cage.

There are aspects between Moon, Venus and Neptune. The Moon and Venus are 112.5 degrees apart. The Moon is half semi square Neptune. Venus is square Neptune. And all three of them are in aspect with the important midpoint AC/MC, while Venus rules the Midheaven. Here you see a complete pattern! His artistic talent (reflected by Moon-Venus-Neptune) is of importance for his career (Midheaven).

Neptune holds the most prominent position (rising before Sun and Mercury, the oriental planet) and Neptune is conjunct AC/MC (the strongest aspect with AC/MC compared to that of Moon - half semisquare - and Venus - square-).
Neptune is the planet of the movies.

Lately, Nicholas Cage seems to be short of money. In the progressed chart there is an upcoming inconjunction of Venus and Pluto. The inconjunction is reflecting lack of balance (and a risk or chance for something getting lost) while Venus-Pluto is the financial axis.

Astrology chart Vaclav Havel (playwright)

When you see the natal chart of Vaclav Havel (former President of the Czech Republic, born October 5 1936 at about 15:00 hours) you immediately see the political leader*). Perhaps that is why when we are asked who Havel is, we think of the President first.

But Vaclav Havel also is a playwright and poet (after studying drama). That part of Havel is shown by the fact that Mercury (planet of the writer) doesn't make major aspects in sign while Neptune's oriental position is reflecting the imaginary world of fantasy, beliefs and idealism. There is also the Moon in Gemini (need to communicate) in the 5th house of creativity, square Neptune (fantasy, fiction) and Neptune septile Venus. Venus is half semisquare and Neptune is quintile the Midheaven. Here we have a complete pattern of artistic talent used as a professon!

However, Mercury only makes a soft aspect with Midheaven. Pluto is trine Midheaven (out of sign) and Mars makes a square. His career involved political (Pluto) discussions (Mercury-Mars) and later in life he remained political active (Mars-Pluto). But I think he uses creative thinking to be good at it!

*)THE POLITICAL LEADER IN THE CHART
The Sun does not make major aspects in sign
The Sun is quintile Pluto
Pluto is on the Descendant

It bareley takes mare to describe a person who will always draw attention and who wants to be in the center of it (the star: Sun) and who is also a strategist when it comes to it (Pluto on an angle).

Astrology chart Sean Penn

Can we see an artistic pattern in the chart of Sean Penn? Yes we can! And can we see why he is so often in the news for hitting a reporter? Yes, we can do that, too!

Sean Penn was born August 17, 1960 at 15h17 in Santa Monica. This is the pattern of artistic talents:

Libra Midheaven
Moon square Midheaven
Moon in Cancer
Moon sextile Venus
Moon trine Neptunu
Venus sextile Neptune
Venus half semi square Midheaven

And of course he is a star (Venus in Virgo rules Midheaven, Mercury is in Leo, so is the Sun). The Sun is trine Jupiter (for self confidence) and quintile Neptune (for a creative lively fantasy). The combination of Sun-Jupiter-Neptune is frequent in the charts of those who have a devoted audience, such as movie stars have.

MARS QUINTILE URANUS
Sean Penn has Mars in Gemini, the sign of communications) quintile Uranus. That is reflecting a creative way to loose his short temper and to act immediately. Uranus rises before his Sun. Uranus happens to reflect 'news', too...
Transit Uranus is now inconjunct his natal Sun (disproportional upheaval). Reason enough for reporters to follow him and tell us about him.

More about the effect of Mars-Uranus on my site Astromarkt...

Astrology chart Camille Saint-Saëns

Camille Saint-Saëns was born October 9, 1835 in Paris. 'Cirkels' by Jan Kampherbeek gives this chart:

Notice that Venus is connecting the Midheaven, ruling the dispositor of Midheaven and making a minor aspect with Neptune. There is an artistic pattern. Here you see the amount of indications:

Sun and Moon are in signs ruled by Venus (Taurus and Libra)
The Ascendant is in Libra
The Moon is in Taurus
The Moon in Taurus rules the Cancer Midheaven
Venus is in Libra
Venus is the final dispositor of the MC-routing (Cancer, Moon in Taurus, Venus in Libra)
Venus is conjunct Ascendant
Neptune is conjunct IC
Venus is 105 degrees from Neptune (sextile + semisquare)
Cancer is on Midheaven
Uranus is inconjunct Midheaven (from the equal 5th house ruling the equal 5th)
Neptune is opposition Sun/Moon (a midpoint yod pointing at Neptune)

SATURN for classical
Camille Saint-Saëns is a classical composer. Saturn is conjunct his Ascendant and square his MC. His music had to be conform certain standards and was serious by nature. Saturn is important in the charts of classical musicians and singers. Their music has 'status' and is timeless. He was so serious that he thought that 'Carnaval des Animaux' should not be performed as it was not serious enough!

Even though Sun and Venus are in aspect with the combination of success (Jupiter and Pluto), he may not have regarded himself as a successful person. His two children died, and his marriage was a failure. Perhaps that is reflecting the influence of Saturn on the Ascendant. The Ascendant is the window to the outside world and to others. Saturn is the 'dementor' (using a Harry Potter idea:), chilling and depressing, too serious, too 'stiff' to be able to see the good things in life and on the other hand: bad luck. His father died before he was born, his children died and he ended lonely, with no other company than his pupil Fauré. Saturn is semi square the crucial midpoint AC/MC. Fatherhood and fathers (responsibility) is reflected by Saturn, too. So is being alone.

JUPITER for traveling
It is interesting to see that Saint-Saëns was more popular outside his own country than he was in France. Jupiter, planet of traveling, is rising before his Sun to reflect an international orientation. In his homeland he had a lot of competition coming from Debussy (whose Mars - the symbol of competition - is close to the Descendant of Camille Saint-Saëns). Edgar Fauré was his student.

Here you see a piece of his works that says more than words:

Astrology chart of Vera Lynn (no HOB)

Vera Lynn is number one in the British charts with 'We'll meet again', 70 years since she recordreded it, nos that she is 92! There is no available hour of birth, but it is easy to see that:

- her progressed Sun is changing sign
- transit Pluto recently was conjunct progressed Sun (referring to a come back!)
- transit Pluto also was inconjunct her natal Sun in the latest years
I guess that life has been more intense (again) than ever. She is in a period of transformation to another life style. Such a period can be very difficult
- Mars is rising before the Sun and conjunct Sun
- transit Uranus is about to reach natal Mars
- transit Saturn will soon be opposition natal Mars
Those are indications for restricted energy and excitement at the same time.

But, let us see why her album is such a success throughout the years.

Very Lynn´s songs became popular in times of war. Mars, the ancient god of war, is rising before her Sun and Mars is in the artistic sign of Pisces. She has Venus in Pisces, too and that is a good placement for an artist as ist means that there is enough sensitity and a chance of artistic talent or being appreciated as an artist. Venus is conjunct Mercury, so that this talent goes together with communications (the voice or the pen). This combination of indications is valid for all those who were born on her day: 20 March 1917, including the ' calling ' Ceres (in the 12th degree of Virgo, not making any aspect at all)). When Ceres is important roots are, too. Transit Jupiter is now inconjunct her progressed Ceres, so that she benefits from her roots in an extraordinary way

Probably Dame Vera Lynn has important angular placements and/or combinations of Sun/Moon and/or AC/MC with the planets of success and entertainment. We can only guess without hour of birth. And that leaves us with an incomplete pattern of artistic talent, as there is only Venus in Pisces perhaps within 2 degrees orb biquintle Neptune, reflecting it. I like the reading on Bristol School of Astrology, see this link http://www.bristolschoolofastrology.com/

Astrology chart Agatha Christie

On September 15, 1890 one of the greatest authors of detectives was born: Agatha Christie. It was in Torquay, at about 4:30 a.m., when Neptune and Pluto were on top together, Saturn was rising just before the Sun and conjunct Ascendant and Mercury didn't make any major aspect within 5 degrees. Secrets, discretion, hidden danger and suspense would mark her life and that is in line with Neptune-Pluto.

In 1926 'The murder of Roger Ackroyd' was a successful mystery and so is the fact that Agatha leaves her husband for about 12 days within giving notice of her whereabouts. That year she has progressed MC inconjunct Jupiter for success, but....(not happy). A divorce follows in 1928. That is when the progressed Sun is changing sign to indicate a different kind of life or another lifestyle. She meets another man and marries him.*)

But how about the writer in her chart? Here is the pattern of talent:
Moon in the sign of style, Libra
Neptune is elevated
Moon is trine MC
Neptune is conjunct MC (translation of light by the Moon)
Venus inconjunct Neptune (artistic talent and romantic feelings, but...not well balanced)
Moon trine Neptune
And
Mercury (ruler of the MC) is in Libra, without aspects!
In other words: Neptune (on top) is connected to Venus, Moon and Midheaven in the sign of communications (Gemini) and that is a complete astrological pattern of artistic talents! In addition, Saturn is angular and Saturn rules the 5th house of entertainment (even though Saturn gives it a serious touch:). Mercury is the planet of communications (writing, talking, transport). Her career (MC) is defined by her communication skills. And those skills can reach any level (because Mercury has exclamation marks - no aspects!-).

The Moon trine Jupiter in the 5th house gives and astrological explanation for the reason why she loved to travel. Venus, Neptune and Pluto are in aspect with the Ascendant. Perhaps that is the perfect statement for mysterious pleasures and entertainment connected with her name?

*) Indications for more than one marriage: Sun square Mars, Mars 105 degrees from Saturn, Saturn in the first house square ruler 7 (Neptune).

Astrology chart of Raoul Dufy

Raoul Dufy was a decorative painter. The pattern of artistic talents in his chart is clear:
Pisces Midheaven (for an not so materialistic goal in life)
Neptune is elevated
Moon in Pisces (ruled by Neptune) for sensitivity
Moon sextile Neptune
Moon half semi square Midheaven
Venus semi square Neptune for artistic talents
Venus square Midheaven
and...
Pluto oriental (first rising outer planet), ruling the 5th house of creations
Pluto ruler 5 conjunct AC/MC

He made optimistic and joyfull work and that might be the reason for being underestimated. Venus square Saturn is a good aspect for a stand up comedian or for cabaret. For a paintor it is a less fortunate aspect as it says that his style has it's limitations and perhaps the amount of appreciation, too (in the eyes of the artist).

Astrology chart Andy Warhol

Today various works of Andy Warhol has been stolen out of the house of a friend of his. Time to have a look at the pattern of artistic talents in the chart of the painter of pop art. Watch the Aquarius (modern) Midheaven conjunct the Moon (pop): he had a need to be different than the rest, to be 'new'. The Moon is also in Aquarius in the most used charts of the USA. Warhol's art is strongly based upon the American way of life.

Neptune is in aspect with the Moon. The biquintile aspect is reflecting a creative super sensitivity. That allowed him to see the world with different eyes and to see the art in a can of soup. Venus is square Neptune and that is the combination of artistic talents. It combines style and vision. Venus is 112.5 degrees from AC/MC, making style and beauty of crucial importance. So is the position of Pallas, square Ascendant. Pallas is the symbol of patterns and often placed at an angle or square AC in the charts of artists. Neptune is the first outer planet rising before the Sun (the oriental planet) and that refers to being orientated on the immaterial world of (for example) arts. There is also an important Mars in this chart. It seems that he wanted to become a machine and the working place was named 'Factory', with lots of producing artists in the house. Mars also refers to the scar and the pain of the injury that was caused by a feminist artist who shot him.

Uranus is the planet of controversy and extravagance. Mercury is the planet of communications. These planet don't make major aspects, so that he could become a newsmaker at any level, in spite of being shy.
The Moon, Uranus and Neptune are part of a so called 'golden Yod'. He had a typical behaviour and typical desires. That was his strength and it was his weakness.

Astrology chart D.H. Lawrence

Lady Chatterly's lover was written by David H. Lawrence. Was his book a piece of art, or was it an erotic piece of art? His chart tells us that he had sense of style and beauty and perhaps loved the ladies (Moon conjunct Venus in Libra). Moon and Neptune are ruled by Venus. There is no other connection of the pattern of artistic talent with Midheaven than a minor aspect of the Moon (67.5 degrees, sesquisemisquare). He used to be a teacher (the Moon is also the symbol of children). He died very young of tuberculosis. His health forced him to stop teaching. But his health did not stop him to have 'free sex' (in those days very controversial). His Scorpio Ascendant might be the key to that. Pluto (ruler 1) is in the 8th house of sex, life and death. Pluto is trine Uranus (symbol of controversy and freedom).

D.H. Lawrence was a writer. The Midheaven is ruled by the Sun in Virgo and the Sun is ruled by Mercury - planet of communications - in it's own sign Virgo (the sign of the critic; he worked as a critic, too).

The ruler of Midheaven is conjunct Jupiter and Jupiter is the oriental planet (in other words: the planet that rises before the Sun). Jupiter is the symbol of traveling. The last 10-15 years of his life D.H. Lawrence was visiting various countries in Europe, America and Australia. He wrote several books about his voyages. He died in France.

His most famous work was not appreciated until decades after his death.

Astrology chart Pedro Almodovar

Pedro Almodovar's Venus is 'calling' (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees). Venus is square the Ascendant, at the lowest spot in the chart. That makes the symbol of beauty and style a prominent symbol.

The Moon is strong in Cancer, the sign that keeps memories alive, like actors do. The Moon is the final dispositor of Midheaven.

Neptune is square the Moon (final dispositor of Midheaven) and semi square Venus. Now the pattern of artistic talent is completed! The astrological pattern of artistic talent is made by the aspects between Moon, Venus and Neptune, related to Midheaven.

PS Almodovar is a director, he wants to be in control. Saturn is the symbol of control. You can read all about Sun-Saturn and management on Astropost.blogspot.com. The sextile of Jupiter with Midheaven refers to traveling, to guidance and to the international...

Astrology chart Louis Ferdinand Céline

Doctor and controversial (anti semitic) talented writer Louis-Ferdinand Celine was born in the 19th century with Mars oriental. He started his career in the First World War as a soldier. He was honoured with medals. This inspired him later in 'Journey to the End of the Night'. He was an outstanding writer at least when he wrote his first book. Where do we find that in his chart? I found his hour of birth on Astro.com but I get another degree of ASC and Midheaven that they do, using my computer program (astrolab)_. The reason that I remembered Celine is that Sarkozy quoted him.

Controversy is indicated by the position of Uranus 157.5 degrees from Sun/Moon. He was motivated by rebellion, change and independance. Uranus happens to be the ruler of the 5th equal house (the creative house). The racist in the chart is perhaps illustrated by CERES (symbol of genes) conjunct AC/MC JUST LIKE NEPTUNE. Neptune is the symbol of the ideal. Idealisation of the family and racial background (Ceres) is one of the ways the Neptune-Ceres relationship with AC/MC could .

Celine has a Pisces Moon for empathy and fantasy.
The Leo Midheaven has Mercury in Gemini as final dispositor. Mercury is strong in Gemini and Mercury is the planet of communications.

Venus is opposition Ascendant. This crucial angular placement contributes to style and art.

Neptune is square the crosspoint of the chart: AC/MC. That means that art, fantasy and fiction is of crucial importance.

Venus and Neptune are septile to reflect inspirational artistic talent.

The Libra Ascendant helps to see the world more beautiful or 'arty' as it is.

That is the astrological pattern of artistic talent. One might wonder if the Midheaven is in Cancer perhaps, with the Moon in Pisces ruling the MC and again Mercury in Gemini final dispositor.

WRITER
Mercury is strong in Gemini, but there is another reason why communicating (writing) is so important for this chart. Sixty percent of the placements is in air signs and air signs symbolize communicating. Gemini is a movable sign and 70% of the placements in this chart is in movable signs.
In 1932 he published for the first time: he became an artist. That was the year that progressed Venus joined his natal Sun. His book was a success. Later works were very anti semitic so that he had to leave France in June 1944 untill amnesty in 1951. In 1951 his progressed Sun changed sign, just like his life style changed.

Astrology chart George Harrison

George Harrison was a famous musician and my favorite Beatle when I was 15. He played the guitar (notice that Mars is the first outer planet rising before the Sun, symbolizing the use of instruments and tools). He also sang on the background mostly (see Mercury - symbol of the voice - on the lowest spot in the chart, the IC).

PATTERN
The astrological pattern of artistic talent is obvious in this chart. George Harrison had a Moon in the first degree of Scorpio, inconjunct the Pisces Venus on Aries Point and semi sextile Neptune in the second degree of Libra, opposition Venus (out of sign). Venus is in mutual reception with Neptune at the end of the vocational routing through the MC.
It is a keen pattern of artistic talent (MC related Venus <> Neptune inconjunct Moon) with Venus as an important player on Aries Point, without major aspects in sing. Venus is the symbol of taste, style and sense of beauty. The position of Neptune square Sun/Moon shows that he was motivated by arts and music. And the angular Moon on the Ascendant contributed to his popularity.

DEATH
There are several indications for illnesses in his chart and there is an unfortunate conjunction of the rulers of the Ascendant and the eight house of life and death with the fixed star Scheat.

Three inconjunctions and a semi sextile tell us about possible illnesses (inconjuntions refer to something without balance from the start). His Sun in Pisces (ruled by Neptune) is square Saturn and that is another indication for illnesses (Saturn-Neptune).

With Saturn opposition Ascendant in the progressed chart he became a patient. When he died in November 2001, the progressed chart had Mars, the ruler of the IC (symbol of life ending) inconjunt Pluto in the eight house of life and death. This aspect combination refers to or activated the Mars-Pluto quindecile in the natal chart with Pluto (the symbol of transformation) on Midheaven.

As I mentioned before: Venus is the most important planet in this chart. Venus is on Aries Point, 'calling!' and ruling the Ascendant. It is a statement for pleasure and entertainment, for style and luxury, too. Unfortunately the important Venus is conjunct the fixed star Scheat and ...Venus also rules the eight house of life and death. Perhaps this attributed to his early death. RIP

Astrology chart Sydney Poitier

Yesterday transit Jupiter was square the progressed Sun of Sydney Poitier. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama. Jupiter is the symbol of prosperity!

Sydney Poitier, actor and director, was one of the first successful black men in the world of entertainment (in the USA). His chart is reflecting his artistic talent and his successes. The Moon (dispositor of Midheaven = career), Venus and Neptune rule each other and Neptune is connected to the midpoint AC/MC and semi square Midheaven. Cancer on Midheaven, Moon in Libra, Venus in Pisces and Ascendant Libra...they all contribute to the pattern of artistic talent! The midpoint of Sun and Moon (Sun/Moon; reflecting motivation, heart and soul) is sesqui square the midpoint of great success: Jupiter/Pluto.

Astrology chart Olivia Newton-John

Olivia Newton-John's chart has the ethereal planet Neptune without major aspects; a so called 'calling' Neptune. It means that she is an empathic person with fantasy or compassion or vision at any possible level. Such a 'calling' state of Neptune is perfect for an artist and for a romantic person. Neptune is even more important, because of the 67.5 degrees from AC/MC (that is a sesqui semi square), making Neptune of crucial importance. The important Neptune goes together with a strong Moon in Cancer in the 10th house (for the ability to memorize and keep memories alive by interpreting or copying behavior = acting). Venus is conjunct the midpoint Sun/Moon for being motivated by pleasure, entertainment and beauty. The mutual reception of Sun and Venus at the end of the vocational routing through the MC also points at the star in the world of entertainment, the beauty. With the Sun in Libra and Moon in Cancer (ruled by Venus and Moon) she was already born with sense of beauty. Mercury quintile Venus gives her a creative talent in communications.

FANS
With Jupiter opposition, Venus sextile and Neptune 112.5 degrees from Midheaven, her public career is related to having devoted fans and followers (the Jupiter-Neptune combination) even though she sings that she is totally devoted to YOU:)
Jupiter is sesquisquare AC/MC (Neptune is 67.5 AC/MC): this shows again how important her fans are for her position in society.
I don't often name the Pars Fortunae, but it is very obviously positioned on top of the chart (exactly square AC, conjunct Midheaven). You'd almost think that Olivia was born for fortune, if you didn't know that she survived breast cancer and that a nasty affair keeps coming back in the press...

MARS AFFLICTED AND PATRICK MCDERMOTT
On June 30, 2005 Patrick McDermott (a man without date of birth, adopted) disappeared during a fishing*) trip. He is presumed to be alive and well and only on the run because of debts. Rumors grow, and it may not be long before he will be arrested. He lived with Olivia Newton-John, who's now married (since 2008). That brings a nasty story back into her life during the transit of Saturn square her Midheaven and with Mars opposition Uranus in her progressed chart. When her friend left home she had:
- progressed Sun changing sign (and the first aspects in the new sign would be with Saturn - a square - and Uranus - trine-)
- transit Pluto square Ascendant
- progressed Midheaven inconjunct Vertex
Olivia has indications for separation from men and problems with males in general in her natal chart. Conflicts with Mars (square Pluto, 75 degrees from Saturn, sesquisquare Uranus, square Venus) show that she needs to take care who to trust and that she might be forced to defend herself (for example: against aggression). The semi quintile of Mars and Jupiter shows creative enterprise. But let's get back to the artist in the chart.

VOICE = MERCURY!
Why is she a singer/actor and not a painter, for example? Look at the Midheaven in Gemini, pointing at communications and messages. And the ruler, Mercury, doesn't make Ptolemaic aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. When a planet doesn't make major aspects in sign it is a 'calling' planet. What Mercury calls is the voice, the message and communication in general. She is not a writer, but a singer and actor because of the elevated ruler of the 5th house: show, entertainment!

FAME
She started her solo career in 1969, when the progressed Uranus returned to the natal position. Perhaps this stimulated her individuality. In 1974 she won the Eurovision Song Festival with 'A long live love'. Shortly after that she went to the USA. In 1974 her progressed Sun was in the 29th degree of Libra. The position of the Sun in the final degrees of a sign is reflecting a transformational period. The final aspect in that sign was with the ruler of Midheaven (Mercury). She became famous all over the world. Jupiter's crucial angular position (opposition Midheaven and sesquisquare AC/MC) tells us that traveling is of importance for her career. I already mentioned the importance of Neptune. In 1978 (the year of GREASE) in the progressed chart Neptune was conjunct the Ascendant.

ILLNESS
She was born with Saturn rising before the Sun. Later, in progression, Neptune became the oriental planet. A prominent Saturn and Neptune sesquisquare Node and square Midheaven AND conjunct Ascendant might be indicating the period of illness in her life. The period of the battle against cancer in 1992 is mirrored by the progressed aspect of Sun square Pluto. This aspect often intensifies the lifestyle, changes it and brings problems (Pluto) to the light (Pluto), the hard way (square). Notice that her progressed Midheaven changed sign to indicate that her condition, position and public name altered in that year, 1992.

*) interesting coincidence is that Neptune (the most important planet in the chart of Olivia) is the god of the sea.

Astrology chart Ryan O'Neal

Ryan O Neal was born on April 20, 1941 at 21h34 PST in LA with a Taurus Sun and Moon in Pisces, exactly inconjunct Pluto and sextile Venus. You immediately notice the difficult habits (see the post about Moon inconjunct Pluto). This blog is about the astrological pattern of artistic talents, so let us find the actor in his chart*). It doesn't take long, because it is so obvious.

Neptune is conjunct Midheaven.
Neptune is biquintile Venus.
Neptune is 157.5 degrees (sesquisquare + half semisquare) from Moon
That is enough for a complete pattern of artistic talent, already. Moon, Venus, MC and Neptune are connected! But there is more...

The Moon is in Pisces
Venus is in Taurus
Venus is the final dispositor of Midheaven

There is a need to 'hide or run' into fantasy or dreams and a good sense of what is valuable and nice. Also, the career is related to entertainment (Venus). Still there are more indications:
- The Sun is opposition AC/MC and that is a perfect position for a star, for wanting to be in the center of attention, for taking the 'lead'.
- Venus is also opposition AC/MC. This midpoint yod points at the crucial importance of beauty and charm.
- Pluto is square AC/MC and that shows the importance of money, influence, strength,

Sun and Venus are square Pluto, reflecting a difficult or challenging love life. The tightest aspect in the natal chart of Ryan O'Neal is Moon inconjunct Pluto and that apparently causes the personal problems and difficult behaviour. But let's stay on topic and get back to the artist: watch Pallas on the Ascendant. There are many more examples of people working in the business of entertainment and art with an angular Pallas in their chart.

Larry King had an interview with Griffin, O'Neal's son about Ryan. Now the world is certain that they don't like each other. The interview came after the funeral of Farrah Fawcett, who also has an affliction between Mars and Saturn in her chart. (Griffin's mother died 10 years ago). I think that when men are sharing a hard aspect between Mars and Saturn it may be the kind of relationship that includes hitting hard and getting hurt. Ryan and Griffin share a hard aspect with Mars and Saturn that is perhaps the key. Their lives are joined by this issue.

Griffin is also an actor. Here you see the chart of his birthday (no hour of birth available). The complex aspects with Mercury and the unaspected Sun (for drawing attention anyhow) are perhaps good tools in the hands of an actor, but the affliction of Mercury with Moon and Neptune complicates fact finding and communications in general. See the post about Mercury's effect...

If you want to know more about the match of Ryan O'Neal with his late ex-wife Farrah Fawcett, see Astrology-love-romance.blogspot.com and the post with the same date as today.

*)PS to explain:
The pattern of artistic talent is made by aspects between Moon, Venus, Neptune and Midheaven, the special positions of Moon, Venus or Neptune and the signs that they rule.

Astrology chart Guy de Maupassant

Guy de Maupassant was a writer and a poet, born August 5, 1850 at 8:00 a.m. LMT im Miromesnil. It doesn't matter when you were born. The same planets, signs, positions and aspects tell about the astrological pattern of artistic talents. In the chart of De Maupassant the pattern is like this:

1. He has an elevated Moon
2. The Moon is in Cancer (strong in own sign)
3. The Moon is exactly trine Neptune (for sensitive senses)
4. Venus is angular (on the Ascendant (or has some creative astrologer invented this hour of birth? it is just to 'fitting'!)
5. Venus is quindecile Neptune (for artistic talents)
6. Gemini rules Midheaven (for communications envolved in the career)
7. Venus square Midheaven? (with just a few minutes difference)
8. Mercury half semi square Sun/Moon (for being motivated by words/communicating)
9. Neptune opposition Mercury/Jupiter (a midpoint yod pointing at Neptune = fantasy) for successful communications.
10. Almost forgot: the Moon is rising before the Sun for a keen 'feeling' for what the public wants and needs most (because his public and people come first).

Venus is conjunct Jupiter on the Ascendant (Just like in the chart of Rajmata Gayatri Devi of Jaipur the popular and charming royal 'socialite'). Guy de Maupassant was popular, too.

Astrology chart Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger was born on July 30, 1947 in Graz (Austria) and is now the Governor of California. Who would have imagined that in the time that he was a body builder and actor? There is a clue in his chart. The midpoint Sun/Moon is making aspects with Mercury, Saturn and Pluto and the combination of Mercury, Saturn and Pluto is reflecting the strategic mind that (apparently) is needed for politicians as most of them have such a combination in their chart. But where is the pattern of talent needed to be an actor? It is in...

1. Midheaven in Pisces, square Mars (muscles)
2. Venus in Cancer (ruled by Moon)
3. Neptune sesquisquare AC/MC (and Pallas 67.5 degrees from AC/MC)
4. Venus doesn't make major aspects and that means that Venus is 'calling' (Venus symbolizes style, beauty and diplomacy: esthetics!)
5. Venus is quintile Neptune for creative artistic talents
6. The Moon is in a (wider) square with Neptune
7. Venus is trine Midheaven for a career related to esthetics
8. Neptune is quindecile Midheaven (a strong focus on the amorphous world of cinema, for example)
9. The Sun is the final dispositor of Midheaven so that this Leo can draw attention as a star AND as a leader
10. Sun sextile Neptune for a vivid imagination
Mercury conjunct Ascendant shows the crucial importance of communications and language (maybe even his accent:)!

Arnold Schwarzenegger's popularity in his home land Austria vanished when they found out that he is strongly in favor of the death penalty. Where does thát preference come from?
Look at Saturn conjunct Pluto with the midpoint half semi square from ASC/MC, for example. Mars is semi square Sun and septile Saturn-Pluto. He is really the kind of person who is inspired by doing it the 'die hard way', just like in the movies. And maybe that is what makes him controversial (Uranus square Midheaven).

With Sun conjunct Venus in the progressed chart his star was rising (Conan the Barbarian) in the world of entertainment. As from 1984 (when in the progressed chart Saturn and Pluto were conjunct Ascendant) he presented himself as an active Republican, but he had been a Republican since 1968, when he entered the USA and heard Mr.Nixon*) speak, a President with Mars inconjunct Saturn and opposition Pluto, so with the same 'die hard' combination in the chart as Schwarzenegger. And what he said appealed to him...

Astrology chart George Bernard Shaw

George Bernard Shaw was a dramatist (a writer of drama or plays). He was also a socialist and a feminist. (Three female symbols are important in his chart. Venus is conjunct the Sun. Juno is conjunct Midheaven. Pallas is conjunct the Ascendant.) He died in 1950 but you can see him walking and talking on YouTube.

The astrological pattern of artistic talent*) in his chart is like this:

The Moon is in Taurus (sign ruled by Venus)
Neptune is strong in Pisces
THe Moon is sextile Neptune
Neptune is square Ascendant (elevated)
Moon quintile Venus
Venus sesquisquare Neptune

This can be read like this:

A man with empathy and fantasy (an idealist or artist above all), who has a creative sense of style and beauty and artistic talents.

In addation:
- Mercury is half semi square Sun/Moon (for being motivated by communications i.e. writing).
- Mars doesn't make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. That is reflecting activism.

*) The pattern is constructed by aspects of Moon, Venus and Neptune (and the signs that belong to them: Cancer, Taurus, Libra and Pisces) related to Midheaven.

Astrology chart Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr is an actor, a writer and a comedienne (a stand up comedian). Last night I saw a dated show that ended with her dancing like Madonna in a sort of a ballet suit, never minding her weight, to show that there is no need to be afraid:)

Weight
Roseanne Barr has been overweight all her life. In the early 80s she became famous with an overweight stand-up comedy routine. Her overweight is part of her identity. Jupiter in Taurus is inconjunct Venus in Sagittarius. Both signs like what is nice and ask for more. The inconjunctions shows that there is little balance when it comes to a party and an extreme love for 'a lot' of candy. Jupiter in Taurus (the one that makes you bigger and/or great) is also sesquisquare the crucial midpoint AC/MC, promissing success and growth (in whatever direction).
More about obese and astrology on this blog in the post 'Why we are fat and what part of the chart can we blame for it'...

Artistic pattern
Roseanne Barr has the Moon sesquisquare Neptune. Venus is 112.5 degrees from Sun/Moon. Neptune is semi quintile Midheaven. Moon is opposition Venus/Midheaven and Neptune is semi square Venus/Midheaven.
The fact that minor aspects and midpoints are relating Moon, Venus and Neptune might mean that there is talent behind the woman on stage (preparations for example).

The elevated unaspected Sun shows 'show' (to be above all in the center of attention somehow, anyhow). I think that it is that this is very important, seen in the light of her career.
There are more indications for a career in the world of entertainment, like the position of the Midheaven conjunct Sun/Venus and 112.5 degrees from Jupiter/Neptune (for the fans and the audience).

More observations
In her chart Neptune rises before the elevated, not aspected Sun. Venus doesn't make major aspects either. The tightest major aspect is Mars trine Jupiter. The tightest minor aspect is Sun 112.5 degrees (square + half semi square) Uranus.

Meanings
This shows that she is first of all an idealist or an artist with talents and a great drive, who is likely to draw attention at any possible level, anyhow. The aspect between Sun and Uranus reflects that she is (often) a controversial person, different than others, special, causing upheavel. She mentioned that she was an outsider always. (Also notice Mercury sesquisquare Uranus for controversial opinions - and changing your mind, btw -).

Marriages
Uranus affliction with the Sun is one of the aspects that shows a risk for divorce (or being a bachelor) in the chart of a woman. Another sign is an affliction between the first and seventh house. Her Uranus rules the first house and the Sun is dispositor of the seventh house of marriages. Add this with Venus and the Moon in the double bodied signs Sagittarius and Gemini and with Pluto in the seventh house (turning relationships into challenges) conjunct Sun/Moon and there is the picture of a three times divorced celebrity who is now living on her own.

Adoption
I read that she had a child in 1971 and that she arranged an adoption. In 1971 she had progressed Midheaven opposition Ceres (symbol of motherhood). In the progressed chart Mercury (natal ruler of the 5th house of procreation and of the 4th progressed house of family) was conjunct Midheaven. There were signs of changing times:
- the progressed Sun was changing sign to Sagittarius.
- in the solar return chart for her birthday in 1970 in Denver, Uranus is opposition Midheaven

Midheaven 'calling'
There are no aspects of Midheaven within 5 degrees orb or within sign, so Midheaven is 'calling'. That means that her career, status and position can reach any level (up or down) and will strongly be influenced by others or by opportunities symbolized by transits and progressions. The Midheaven receives one minor aspect: a semi quintile from Neptune, the symbol of the artist.
(Perhaps the unaspected Midheaven has a role in the syndrome of DID, because the identity is fluctuating?).

Venus-Pluto
Venus is 112.5 degrees from Pluto (square + half semi square). The combination of Venus and Pluto is the combination of the beauty and the beast (and of earning money). More about Venus-Pluto on Astromarkt...She also has Mars biquintile Pluto, expressing a creative way to use influence (and perhaps also a creative way to deal with the power and force of males). The combination of Venus-Mars-Pluto shows intense passion and drive.

DID and Michael Jackson
Recently Roseanne Barr wrote a public letter to Michael Jackson's children in July 2009. She said MJ asked her to call him the day before he died and she didn't call him back soon enough. She mentioned DID (dissociative identity disorder - more than 1 personality: notice the Moon in a double bodied sign, afflicted by Saturn and Neptune) as a result of her youth. Here is the link to Examiner.com...

One thing for sure: she cannot sing the national anthem. See YouTube...
See her on stage on YouTube and watch the comments: they love her or they dislike her!

Astrology chart Bono (U2)

Bono, the lead singer of U2, was born May 10, 1960 in Dublin with a 'cool' Capricorn Ascendant conjunct Saturn. He is rather small (less then 1.70 m) but he is also great. How does that show in the chart?

1.
The pattern of artistic talent in this chart is made by Venus in Taurus, the final dispositor of Midheaven, opposition the elevated conjunction of Moon and Neptune. Also there is a prominent Pallas on the Ascendant (not uncommon in the charts of artists).

2.
There is a kite figure in the chart. The kite connects the artistic pattern (see 1) with the combination of success (Jupiter and Pluto). It is a great astrological statement that says great success (Jupiter and Pluto) with artistic talents and style (Moon, Venus and Neptune).

3.
There are no placements in air signs and that refers to communicating at any level. (BTW Mars is 'calling', conjunct Aries Point and in the romantic and artistic sign of Pisces in the third house of communications. Mars is rising before the Sun. Bono is in the first place an activist, full of energy. And he uses his profession to be that activist. Every show contains a message. In Amsterdam he referred to Iran, for example. Bono is has influence.)

4.
Mercury and Juno are in hard aspect with Sun/Moon and ASC/MC (and Sun/Moon in aspect with ASC/MC). Motivation is of crucial importance. And Bono is motivated to communicate (sing, speak or write) and to be attractive (Juno).

On this blog Art & Astrology I show you the patterns of the artists and other strong indications for fame and talent. Bono also has a very strong will and he is a realist. He has 60% of the positions in his chart in earth signs and 60% in fixed signs. Taurus is a fixed earth sign. Sun, Mercury and Venus are in Taurus. Taurus (and Venus, ruler of Taurus) is part of the kite figure in the chart. In other words: there is a very strong pattern in the chart of Bono!

Astrology chart J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter)

There is no writer in the world who achieved what J.K. Rowling did. She is a million seller! For all those who want to follow into her footsteps: here is her natal chart. Let us see what it takes to become as famous as she is.

SUN, JUPITER, MERCURY and PLUTO
The Sun is the most elevated object in the chart (square Ascendant). The Sun doesn't make major aspects in sign. That signifies that she will draw attention at any possible level.

Jupiter is rising before the Sun, for a positive attitude, success, travelling (the international; she was married to a Portugese man in the 90's).

Jupiter is also sesqui semi square Sun/Moon and semi square Sun, square the Moon and sextile Midheaven. The combination of Sun, Moon and Jupiter comes back 3 times (Sun/Moon 67.5 Jupiter, Sun/Jupiter 67.5 Moon and Moon/Jupiter conjunct Sun. This combination promises success because the nativity is motivated by optimism, growth and development.
Mercury, the planet of communications, is 'calling'. Mercury is conjunct the midpoint Sun/Moon. That makes her in heart and soul a writer (someone with a message).

Sun, Mercury and Jupiter are prominent in her chart and they are connected by hard aspects. The Sun is half semi square Mercury and semi square Jupiter. The Sun is also semi septile Pluto. This combination of Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto is a combination for many many words and great success in communicating.JUPITER, NEPTUNE and MIDHEAVEN
Mars, Jupiter and Neptune are in aspect with Midheaven. Neptune is square MC. That strongly relates fantasy, empathy and vision to the career. Many astrologers say that Neptune-MC aspect reflects a negative attitude to the profession (and gives a tendency to run away from the usual job).Perhaps, but it is also a strong indication for artistic talents. Jupiter and Neptune together, related to Midheaven, show 'the believing audience', the fans and the followers. Mars-Jupiter makes highly productive. Mars-Neptune however points at wasted energy (or: energy used for a fantasy:).

The Moon is tightly square Jupiter; that is for growing popularity and being used to successes.

PROGRESSIONS
She finished her first book in 1995 (with progressed Mercury conjunct Midheaven and progressed Sun conjunct Venus). A year later she found an editor (progressed Midheaven conjunct Moon and progressed Uranus conjunct Pluto are two signs of change).

In June 1997 the first Harry Potter was printed. Transit Uranus was opposition Sun at the time and Jupiter trine Jupiter. Later that year her progressed Midheaven was square Jupiter (the planet of editors and success). That is when she became famous. The first time that she thought of writing about Harry Potter was in 1990, with MC conjunct Pluto. From 1990 to 1997 she lived between Pluto and Jupiter, the combination of great success, but she was not aware of it. In December of 1994 she returned, divorced and depressed, from Portugal to Edinburgh and that was exactly in the middle of the period from the start of her 'vision' till the moment that the book appeared. (There were thorns on the rose bed: J.K. Rowling had a bad time after her divorce. Mars inconjunct Saturn is the reflection of that. The Mars-Saturn combination is the combination of energy ending, of death and of a blockade.) Even that dark period was a period of inspiration. She 'invented' the Dementors...

CHILDREN's BOOK, WHY?
Why is she writing a book for children? I think that it is because of the fantasy. Her works (MC) have an aspect of fiction (Neptune). Neptune happens to be the ruler of the 5th house of games, play, entertainment and ...children. You can read this combination of Neptune ruler 5 square Midheaven as follows: work related to children's fantasy...

ARTISTIC/CREATIVE PATTERN
She has Venus quintile Neptune (70d04m), Neptune square Midheaven and sextile Moon. Notice the position of Pallas on the IC. Pallas is often angular in the charts of talented people.

EDUCATION
Jo Rowling has a BA in French and Classics.

CONCLUSION
She was talented and telling stories from the start had a good education and was strongly driven and never stopped trying to get her book in the shelves. A Scorpio Ascendant for pushing. She has a very positive attitude (Jupiter oriental in aspect with Sun/Moon; you may notice that her chart is strongly reflecting the positive personality of Harry Potter).. She is a communicator in heart and soul at any possible level and she drew attention (in a positive way)....It will be difficult to copy all thát...

Astrology chart George Clooney

George Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 at 2h58 a.m. in Lexington. On that moment in time and on that place the Sun did not make major aspects, neither did Venus or Mars. That is the recipe for a man who will draw attention anyhow. And for a man with a passion! Jupiter was square Neptune and inconjunct Pluto on that day. That is reflecting success in the movies and a lot of fans, but...it would not come easy, it had his price.

VENUS
With Venus half semi square Sun/Moon and rising before the Sun he is motivated by (and orientated on) beauty, style and entertainment from the start. Venus is 75 degrees from the Moon and 112.5 degrees (square + half semi square) from the midpoint Moon/Neptune. That is reflecting sense of style and beauty in combination with sensitivity and empathy.

George Clooney moved to Hollywood in 1982 with Progressed Sun square Pluto. That aspect is indicating a moment of dramatic change. As Pluto is in his sixth house, his daily life style changed. He didn't become a success all at once. But in 2000 he was elected Best Actor in a comedy. That year his retrograding progressed Jupiter was conjunct natal Jupiter again, a progressed Jupiter return that showed to be very fortunate. A nasty period in his life was the end of 2004. That is when he had Moon inconjunct Moon and Saturn (in the natal chart there is a conjunction of Moon and Saturn) and Midheaven opposition Mars and conjunct Saturn.

In later years in the progresed chart Venus came closer to the Ascendant and Jupiter came closer to Midheaven (see for example the progressed chart of 1994, the year of ET). George Clooney 'grew' into his role as an actor. Now that I write this, his progressed Midheaven is almost conjunct progressed Jupiter. And that is a sign of success.

For more about Clooney, see Astropost...

Or click here to see the post about Johnny Depp and other beautiful and sexy men. I bet that the position of Juno (symbol of marriage) on his Ascendant is part of his attraction.

You can see Clooney singing in 'Brother where art thou' on YouTube... (Great song, BTW:)

Astrology chart Billie Holiday

Billie Holiday was born on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia PA at 2h30 a.m. EST and died 50 years ago, on July 17, 1959 in New York. Mercury (the voice) is trine her Midheaven (career). Another indication for being a singer is the half semi square between Venus in Pisces and Uranus. I have seen many examples of Venus in aspect with Uranus or Neptune or in the signs that they rule in the charts of singers.

The pattern of artistic talent is like this:

Venus is in Pisces (offering a potential for artistic talent and sensitivity)
Venus is 'calling' (no major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees) (charm and entertainment at any possible level)
Moon semi square Venus (sense of style and beauty)
Venus sesqui semi square AC/MC (crucial importance of beauty, charm and talents)
Moon half semi square AC/MC, too (sense of style is of crucial importance)
Neptune (ruler of Venus) trine MC and angular (on Descendant) links the career to arts and artistic talents as a corner stone of the personality

Also notice that Pluto (ruler of MC) is in the 5th house of entertainment and show. Pluto doesn't make major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees. This 'calling' Pluto tells us that there would be a strong ambition for being part of the world of entertainment at any possible level.

Mercury, Neptune and Midheaven form a grand trine. It is still a mystery whether or not her autobiography 'Lady sings the blues' was fake or real. I don't know it that includes her hour of birth...She tells the story of a woman who was beaten up and abused by men. Perhaps the Mars square Saturn influence? It is one of the indications for a divorce*), separation or for keeping distance when it is about males...

BTW: Neptune on the horizon is also a symbol of a fake name, an alias. Billie Holiday's real name was Eleanora Fagan Gough. Unfortunately Neptune is also the symbol of drugs. Drugs killed Billie Holiday too soon, age 45, with the progressed Sun at 29d26m Taurus, about to change sign. When the progressed Sun changes sign your life style is transforming. And sometimes this critical phase stops not only the way you live but life itself.

You can hear Billy Holiday singing 'How deep is the ocean' and see pictures on YouTube...

*) Signs for divorce (or not marrying at all when there are too much of them) are:

In a man's chart:
Hard aspects between Moon and Saturn or Neptune, Venus and Neptune, Mars and Uranus.

In a female's chart they are:
Hard aspects between Sun and Mars or Uranus, Venus and Uranus, Mars and Saturn.

And in the charts of both genders:
Afflictions between the 1st and 7th house (rulers)

I found that Venus in Aries or Mars in Libra do not make relationships easy. Neither does the placement of Neptune on the horizon in the charts of females. Hard aspects between Moon, Venus and/or Mars illustrate that it may be hard to find a match (and so the nativity needs to compromise).

Astrology chart of Madonna

Madonna L. Ciccone was born on August 16, 1958 at 7:05 a.m. in Bay City (83d54W 43d36N). Female symbols are prominently placed in her chart (The Moon and Ceres are angular -on the Ascendant - and Pallas rises before the Sun; Juno is conjunct Sun/Moon). It is clear that the female touch is important in her chart and that is logical in the chart of a female icon in the world of entertainment. From the aspects with Midheaven you can see that she would be a femme fatale (Venus and Pluto in aspect with MC) with great success (Jupiter biquintile, too). The combination of Venus, Jupiter and Pluto with Midheaven doesn't only promiss a lot of money (Venus-Pluto for money, Jupiter for a lot), but also reflects the chance of being a great (Jupiter+Pluto) artist (Venus).

Madonna was born with the astrological pattern of artistic talent in her chart.
The astrological pattern of artistic talent connects the Moon, Venus and Neptune (and/or the signs that they rule) with Midheaven. In the chart of Madonna the pattern is like this:

1. Venus square Neptune for sensitivity and artistic talent
2. Moon septile Neptune for inspiration through fantasy and sense of 'what the people need'
3. Neptune inconjunct Midheaven relates art to the career
4. Venus sextile Midheaven for entertainment and joy

It is not much, I am afraid. I could add Saturn, ruler of the 5th house of entertainment, pleasure and show, because Saturn makes a obsessive and focused quindecile with Midheaven for a strong focus on the the business (Saturn) of entertainment (5th house) as a career (MC). Notice that Venus is semi sextile Pluto and that both are relegated to Midheaven. Earning money is one of the goals. With Gemini on Midheaven and Mercury in Virgo (final dispositor) on the Ascendant communicating (using the voice) was likely to be part of the job.

Another thing that contributes to creativity is that 80% of the placements in Madonna's chart are in fire and earth signs. The combination of fire and earth is a creative combination. Her Sun is in a fire sign, her Moon is in an earth sign and so is her Ascendant. The combination of Moon and Ascendant in Virgo with the Leo Sun makes her the kind of entertainer who strives for perfection in details.

Madonna is perhaps another kind of artist. Her Sun/Moon with Mercury, Mars and Uranus perhaps show us that she is motivated more by making a change and producing shocks by means of communications (singing and speaking).

URANUS AND PLUTO: FOR ANOTHER LOOK AND CONTROVERSY
In 1986 she 'transformed' into a blond girl. That was the year that her Virgo Ascendant became a Libra in progression. Then in 1989 she changed her looks again. The period of changing signs in progression is a period of transformation. It will last from the 29th till the 2nd degree until it is completely over. Also, with the Moon on the Ascendant like Madonna has, a person likes to change the way she looks. And there is another reason: Uranus is the first outer planet rising before her Sun. she wants to be different.

CONTROVERSY
With Uranus oriental and square Mars we expect her to be rebellious, impulsive and controversial and to have a short temper (and a special drive and energy!). Mercury, Mars and Uranus are in hard aspect with ASC/MC (in the 22.5 degree range), reflecting controversial discussions. Madonna is known for swearing, for example. And her shows always seem to shock someone. Uranus is half semi square (22.5 degrees) from Sun/Moon, so that she is probably motivated to shock, change and 'renew' the world.

With Pluto conjunct Sun/Moon there is a combination of Uranus, Pluto and Sun/Moon. Sudden changes, moves and incidents are to be expected when you are strongly motivated by surprises, excitement, transformations and challenges.

Astrology students may not be surprised that she had progressed Midheaven trine Jupiter and progressed Jupiter square Venus in 1983, the year of her best seller album 'Madonna'. In the natal chart Jupiter in the second house is biquintile MC (for a creative way to get a better financial position). This aspect was activated in 1983.

CHILDREN
There is some correspondence with the chart of Angelina Jolie that shows what in their chart is related to foster parenthood. You can read more about that on Astropost.blogspot.com.

You can see Madonna on stage here...Lately Madonna seems to appear rather skinny. Saturn, the symbol of bones, is in her first house of appearances right now.

Astrology chart Robert Redford

Robert Redford married his long time friend Sibylle Szaggars this week. She is an artist, so is he. Let us have a look at the chart of Robert Redford and find the artist in the chart.

Robert Redford was born 18th August 1938 at 20h02 in Santa Monica, according to my files (source: Astrolab). Here is the pattern of artistic talent in the chart for that time and place:

1. Moon in Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus

2. Venus strong in Libra

3. Venus is 'calling' (not making major aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees)

4. Venus final dispositor of the MC-routing

5. Moon inconjunct Midheaven

6. Jupiter sesquisquare Sun/Moon, Neptune sesquisemisquare Sun/Moon

This chart is reflecting the birth of a person who has style, charm and diplomacy or beauty at any possible level and who is motivated by his fans and the successes in art. The chart has a keen pattern for an artist. when there are more prominent placements and with a double bodied sign like Sagittarius on Midheaven, it is to be expected that there would not be ONE career, however. Wikipedia mentions that he is: an American film director, actor, producer, businessman, model, environmentalist, philanthropist. I see that he was a pitcher once and I notice that Mars is the first outer planet rising before his Sun (for the military, sports, energy or activism first).
Jupiter is sextile Midheaven for the interest in directing (guiding).
Mercury and Pluto are also 'calling' so that communications and politics are important as well.
And I already mentioned the oriental Mars for activism.

The tightest aspect in his chart is Mars square Uranus. This is reflecting a hot temper and a drive to make a change (at once please). This aspect is one of the indications for divorce in the chart of a male. For more about Mars-Uranus, see Astromarkt (link...)

Astrology chart Charles (Charlie) Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin made us smile. Where in his chart is the clown, the director and the composer of the music of Smile? And where is the artistic pattern? Why was he the 'little man'?

The artistic pattern is constructed by Moon, Venus, Neptune, (the signs that they rule) and Midheaven for the professional output. In the chart of Chaplin the pattern is like this:

1. Crucial position of the Moon on the Ascendant (popular, being able to 'act')
2. Venus strong in Taurus (possible sense of beauty and arts)
3. Venus final dispositor of Midheaven (field of entertainment)
4. Venus square Midheaven (profession requiring style, looking good or making fun)
5. (Venus inconjunct Uranus for the sense of rhythm).

And that is it (or perhaps I should add Neptune trine AC/MC to the list). It is not much compared to the patterns in other artists' charts that you see on this blog. I think that that is because we known him most of all because of the character (Moon) of Charlie. The Moon is also a symbol of the family (imitation, upbringing, education). The important position of the Moon might reflect the importance of his familiy background. His parents were (poor) artists. His environment (ascendant) contributed to his talent and to the choice of his career.

Also: Charles Chaplin was a timeless and international icon. He is different from the artists on this blog. His performance is more fun than beautiful. To find the key to that perhaps we need to find another pattern. We need to combine the family background, the feeling for style and the strong character. It is that unique combination that made the little man famous. Ambition and drive were very important to get to the top.

ASTRO IDENTITY
First let's see how his Astro I.D. looks like. The Astro I.D. is the combination of the key positions in the chart. In his chart the calling Sun, oriental Jupiter, angular Moon and elevated Saturn are the keys. They tell us about the ups and downs of a man who was in the center of attention and who knew what the people wanted. They wanted a smile:)... See the specification of the Astro I.D. below.

CHARACTER
His chart has Sun in Aries, Moon and Ascendant in Scorpio...That is the character of someone who is using force and influence with intense energy. It is a strong character. And he needed to be strong. He also had Mars in Taurus square Saturn in Leo. He was confronted with the disadvantages of his efforts and had to fight a lot of barriers (even the real ones). He was the little (Saturn) man (Mars)...

MARS SQUARE SATURN (the little man fighting against restrictions)
Mars square Saturn is the tightest aspect in the chart of Charles Chaplin. It is the aspect of 'hitting hard', 'working too hard', finding obstacles on your way and being limited in your drive (by law for example). Mars-Saturn aspects are frequent in the charts of those who fight (for or against) the law. There were many obstacles to conquer for Chaplin. He had no formal education and was a very poor boy. But as Capricorn is ruling the 3rd house of 'learning' he thought himself later and he managed to write his own scripts, books and soundtracks. He thought himself how to play musical instruments. He was a self made man and he HAD to fight the law. He had to pay for a child that was not his and he was a victim of the crusade against communists in the USA in the 50's. He could not return to the USA freely and chose to stay in Europe for the rest of his life, but not in England. He went to Switzerland (Jupiter oriental, first of all an international!).

SPECIFICATION OF Astro I.D.
1. Jupiter is the first outer planet rising before the Sun (oriental)
That makes him a traveler, an international, someone who wants to have success in the first place and wants to guide others (he was a director).

2. The important Moon in Scorpio, conjunct Ascendant
The Moon is important when memorizing (and acting) is involved. The Moon is also an important symbol of 'the people' and popularity. The Ascendant is the symbol of presentation and the Moon has many faces. That is why the Moon on the Ascendant shows a capability of acting.

3. Saturn is on top of this chart.
Saturn in Leo tells us that he had ambition and management talent. The position and aspects of Saturn tell us that there might be a lot of restrictions, limitations, barriers and goodbyes in the life of Chaplin. But his job was to make us smile (like a clown has to do).

4. The Sun does not make aspects in sign or orb 5 degrees (Sun is 'calling')
When the Sun is 'calling' you want to be in the center of attention as a leader or performer. Charles was a performer and he was a director.

From this Astro ID you clearly get the picture of an ambitious man who wanted to draw attention, presenting himself in different ways, but always in a positive (guiding way) teaching us how to keep on smiling and to make an advantage of a disadvantage. The little man that he used to be became the symbol of his success.
